The first one will, probably, prove to be very complicated. Please note that
in the first case, you also need sorting-and-overriding function. This
function would probably be very complicated because you need to:
- sort all data (templates) by depth
- disable/delete from chain all templates that have same name in upper chain
- it becomes fuzzy - no more 1to1 mapping for devices ... this can bring in
another problems ... :-(

The way i see it, second way is more "natural", and it seems to be fairly

Yes, but, unfortunately, i need those.

Tried that, got "wacky" results ... :-)

Hmm ....

As i see it, the problem is in tinysnmp. It seems he doesn't "select" for udp

ZenModeler Problem

I managed to get Zenoss up and running successfully before Christmas, I
added all of our internal servers (a mixture of Linux and Windows) and
everything looked well, all of the data was being collected.

When I have returned this morning, I added a new server and chose 'Run
configuration collection against this device' for the new device and the
existing servers... when I did this before Christmas it refreshed all of
the data via SNMP on each server, now, I just get the following errors:

RE: Initial install: RHEL4 x86_64 system

When I've installed the Zenoss-Plugins RPM, I've had to:
 touch /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/zenoss/plugins/__init__.py

After that it was able to find the plugins.

Subject: [zenoss-users] Initial install: RHEL4 x86_64 system

I've managed to recompile and get Zenoss running by recompiling the RHEL4
Zenoss RPM for x86_64. This went without issue, once a few needed
dependencies not listed in the spec file (zlib-devel, subversion) were
installed. All dependencies were pulled from either RH sources, RPMForge, or
MySQL in the case of MySQL5.

The only issue I've run into (so far) is with the Zenoss-Plugins RPM. After
installing, and trying to add a new SNMP device (localhost), I get the
following errors:

Re: Feature request - adding comment toacknowledgement?!

Zakir,

Good thoughts... 1.1 allows events to be added manually through the
UI. It also adds events for any changes detected by zenmodeler. We
have a ticket for adding documents and text comments to a device...

Re: Feature request - adding comment to acknowledgement?!

Jurgen,

to get svn or any package on the appliance use the conary command
like this...

conary update subversion

you can search the repository with

conary rq subversion

You might want to put the trunk on your own OS install instead of
using the appliance...

Re: [PATCH] A few corrections ...

Hrvoje,

Happy new year to you as well (and everyone else on the list)!

I agree with you that the second solution is better. I have added
our discussion to the ticket...

http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/ticket/131

Anyone else have input to give on this one?
