Workrave freezes Windows XP 64 Professional

Hi,

first of all, I'd like to say thanks to the developers of Workrave. I
tried other RSI help programs, but that's the only one I found so far,
which is free and has three different types of breaks (micro-breaks,
regular rests and end-of-the-day). In particular, I found out a great
relief thanks to the microbreaks, in just less than a week's use!
Unfortunately, I may be forced to unistall Workrave, since it freezes
my pc way too often. I am running

 Windows XP 64bit Professional

with Sophos Antivirus. The freezes usually happen when I have
different Office files open, like for example two or three Excel
files, with Outlook running in the background and I open a PowerPoint
file. I tried to use the "No block" setting, hoping that it would
help, but it looks like the frequency of the freezes hasn't changed.
Could you please fix it? I'd be very sorry to renounce to Workrave,
because it helps me a lot. Thanks,

Hi can you tell us what you mean by freezing your PC? Your mouse pointer won't move? You can't type? Does it
happen during a break or just randomly? Can you do anything during the freeze? Does your taskbar display
freeze or do you see the time change? Does Workrave freeze? What version of Workrave do you have?

Please let us know if you still experience the same problems after Workrave has been uninstalled. I tested
Workrave on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and didn't notice anything like that.

I can do nothing at all. I can't even open the Task Manager to kill Workrave!

I don't know. As I told you, it usually happens when I have different
Office 2007 files open. Usually I get a "empty" Excel or Powerpoint or
Explorer, etc., window.
Actually, it may be that it happens in correspondence of a break,
because the timing is more or less that. But I cannot be 100% sure,
because when the freezing happens, the Workrave popup doesn't appear.

The taskbar disapperars. The bottom part of the screen is empty: I see
only the blue colour of my desktop background. This is odd enough,
because I haven't selected the "Auto-hide" option of the Windows
taskbar, so theoretically the taskbar should NEVER disappear.

Yes, like everything else.

Oh, absolutely no scientific backing, but I wanted to take some
breaks, normally I have exactly one during a day (lunch). And the
standard options in Workrave were just too extreme for me. I managed
to use them a week, but then I just stopped using the whole program.
Never decided that, it just happens on its own :P

Yeah, that would be too hard for me. I have it at something like this now:

- One two-minute microbreak every 1.5 hour.
- One ten minute break every three hours.
- Eight hour PC-time, give me one extra hour three times if I ask for it.

Workrave that there is no exposed settings for in the user interface:

Never got it to work on my system , slowed system down too much and didn't
break when it was supposed to. I tried to work with the bugs in it, and gave
up after about 5 months or so. ( PC had Windows XP)
