Re: Multimonitor blocking

I was wondering if an option could be added not to display it on the
second monitor. A lot of times I have a tv show on my second screen and
I get a big window in the middle which is kinda really annoying :P

Yes, I do get a break window on both monitors. My second monitor is to
the right of the first monitor, but the second monitor is set as my main
display. (In Windows' screen resolution control panel.) Ah, if I set the
first as the main display it starts working correctly.

Thanks,
Peter

That's good! If it's annoying enough that you don't want to look at it
and instead get up, stretch a bit, focus your eyes on something far
away, and walk around a little, then it's fulfilled its purpose :)

Cheers,
Philip

question

Dear creators,

Thank you very much for your very good program. A very useful thing.
The onlt problem I can't use it in a right way. For example I would
like to have a natural break For 10 minutes every 45 minutes ( without
minibreaks and without anything else). Ok, I fill in the table - 45
minutes - time between breaks and 10 minutes the duration of the
break. "postpone coloumn I remain with zeroes", mini breaks and day
limit tables are unactive. But when timer begins to run - every 10
seconds it stops for 2-3 seconds so time is running on the timer not
in a right way - and I would like very much that it is running just
like at normal clocks without any time postponnings,

Thank you very much for your help!!

Best regards,

Anna

Re: Workrave causing X to crash (Ubuntu 11.10)

Still experiencing it in 11.10 rather frequently.

i hope this can get fixed before 12.04 LTS is out.

Subject: [Workrave-user] Workrave causing X to crash (Ubuntu 11.10)

Hi there!

I start Workrave when I log in to the Unity shell (Ubuntu 11.10) and X seems to frequently crash the first time a Workrave dialogue is supposed to appear.

I've checked the logs and I can't see anything obvious in the usual places.

The only experiment I could do is to stop using Workrave and instead use xwrits, which is *not* really a suitable alternative because it doesn't distinguish between long breaks and short breaks, among other issues.

X hasn't crashed once since then.

I noticed this also happened in 11.04, although much less often.

I'd like to be able to better diagnose the issue. What is the best way to do this? I assume I will need to build my own copy but how do I procede after that?

Thanks for all your help!

Ryan K

Just right-click on the workrave symbol in your status bar and tick
"Reading Mode".

Best wishes

Could you please install a recent Workrave from my 1.10 release candidate PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~rob-caelers/+archive/workrave

And check if this fixes the crashes. Thanks.

Groetjes,
   Rob

A problem with workrave

Good morning, my name is Viviana Oquendo, I study and work at National University of Colombia and I'm trying to use workrave in my job for all the workers but I've troubles or I don't understand the idea.

They start to work at 8.00 and finish at 18.00 but workrave appears just twice, I really don't know why and I'd like to know how to fix it. I've been thinking that maybe is because they don't use the mouse all the time, sometimes they read but I really really need your point of view.

Thank you very much and congratulations for the software.

Cordialmente

I’ve been trying to use Workrave for almost 2 months and it just isn’t doing what it was advertised to do. Very erratic and once the IT installed it, it doesn’t work continuously. As you might imagine a lot of users aren’t “administrators” so are not allowed to update the software or change the setting even so it is practically a useless program in my opinion. So much  for ergonomics for secretaries and others who type. If the programmers only had a half thought out  clue that people using the program need something to run and not screw up so much. Such a waste of time to  install this program and think that it would actually work.

Re: A problem with workrave

Hi,

Workrave counts the amount of time you are using the mouse or keyboard. If
this time exceeds the 'break limit', Workrave will inform you to take a break.
If you stop using mouse of keyboard, Workrave will stop counting your 'active'
time and starts counting your 'idle' time.

When you have not used the mouse or keyboard for more than the 'break
duration', Workrave assumes you took a natural break and resets the break
counter. So if you use your computer primarily for reading, Workrave may not
prompt you to take break. You can enable the 'reading mode' for this purpose.

If you open the main status window (right click on the white sheep in the
notification area and select 'open') you can see the status of the three
breaks. 'active' time is counted in blue. When the timer is completely blue,
you are prompted to take a break. When you become idle (i.e not using
mouse.keyboard), a green bar appears. When the break counter is completely
green, your break is complete and the timer resets.

Hopefully this clarifies the behavior you are seeing. If not, please let us know.

Regards,
   Rob

What do you think Workrave was advertised to do? A lot of people run Workrave on a limited user account
without any problems, myself included. All settings can be modified from a limited user account by
default. Right-click the Workrave tray icon and choose Preferences. There are rare cases when an IT
department locks the settings but that's not our fault.

Please post a message that is not so inflammatory if you need help, and give us steps to reproduce the
problems you are having. Also please include your version of windows (run command 'winver') and the
version of Workrave you are running (Right-click tray icon and choose 'About').

Thanks
