If you search the archives of this mailing list, you will find many
discussions of how to write programs that change the settings of
Workrave while it is running. See for example messages with these
titles (among others):

  Scheduling WorkRave
Changing Workrave mode without using the GUI?

You can write a program that detects how many episodes your son has
watched today and then adjusts Workrave's settings.

The latest news is that this already can be done for Linux and
hopefully soon (already?) for Windows.

I hope this helps.

compatibiliteit on the Windows 7 platform

Dear Sir / Madam

To understand the compatibility of

WORKRAVE EN 1.8.100

on the Microsoft Windows 7 platform, I would like to receive some information regarding the following questions:

1. Is the application compatible with Windows 7 Enterprise?
2. Is the application compatible with Windows 7 Enterprise SP1?
3. Is the application compatible with Windows 7 Enterprise (SP1) 64-bit installation?
4. Is the application compatible with Remote Desktop Services (RDS) on Windows Server 2008 R2?
5. Is there a 64
-bit version of the application available?
6. if so, what version?
7. If not, it is planned and possibly when?
8. If the application is compatible, then you recommend this application to 32 bit or 64 bit install (in case of any available 32
-bit plugins, add-ons, drivers, etc.)?

Thank you in advance for your help.

With kind regards,

Jurgen Derksen

Alternative Artwork

Dear folks,

let me cite the user fluffy in bug No. 276:
»Personally I think that the art needs to be completely redone. Ms.
Workrave looks creepy and is horribly-proportioned, and more than once
I've had coworkers ask me why I had pictures of "a big-breasted anime
chick" on my screen.«

I thought it better to cope with this issue on the mailing list, as it
is quite discussion-prone.

I rather don't like this Ms. Workrave, too, and get slightly angry being
interrupted by her amidst typing. Well, that's a personal issue, but as
fluffy points out, people tend to be somewhat bewildered by the fellow
on the screen.

Thus I propose an alternate artwork and, to be somehow constructive,
provide some sketches of my own ideas. I am not the finest drawer, so
please don't laugh too much. -- My intention was to create an
as-plain-as-possible figure which still illustrates the exercise. The
plainness makes it easier to develop pictures for new exercises.
Additionally, since it doesn't attempt to be pretty, no one can say,
that it is ugly in some way or the other.

I want to emphasize, that it is not thought to be a replacement for the
old artwork, but to be an alternative to those users feeling themselves
being offended by Ms. Workrave.

Faithfulliest

Richard

Hi,

Please use the latest version (1.9.4) on Windows 7. Support for Windows 7 was
added after 1.8.

Workrave 1.9.4 supports Windows 7. SP1 and 64 bit are supported. I haven't
tested the Enterprise edition, only home premium and professional, but I don't
expect any problems.

I'm not sure. I have never tried and have no access to RDS on Windows Server
2008. Perhaps someone else on the mailing list? I would appreciate feedback on
this (I get this question more often).

> 5. Is there a 64-bit version of the application available?

No. The 32bit version works just fine on a 64bit.

This is not planned.

32bit.

I fully support alternate exercise artwork (and/or new exercises). If you or
someone else donates a full set of new images (*), I will add a configuration
options for selecting the new artwork. Deal ? :-)

Re: Alternative Artwork (Richard Moehn)

Please leave Ms Workrave just as she is. She’s one of the (many!) joys of Workrave and, for me, she greatly softens the annoyance of being interrupted and makes it a pleasure to get out of one’s sedentary position and exercise along with her.

Re: Typing mode?

Hello,

we already have reading mode which is passive, could we get an "Typing mode" which is Active?

i many times close workrave when i type because it can get very annoying and i often forget what i was going to type...

then i forget to reopen it again...

and i dont have rsi from typing, since i dont do it for too long, i have it from reading and spending too much time in front of the computer so reading mode is great.

however constantly stopping workrave when i need to type is much more of an rsi for me.

maybe some hotkeys to start/pause would be nice too.

Thanks!

Modifying the Delay Time

Hello All,

New to WorkRave today, and very grateful for it.  Magnificent, well thought-out, piece of software.  Really exqusite.  Thanks

My question is regarding a post I saw on in some blog that referred to being able to adjust the Delay Time Before Reset using RegEdit.  I attempted this, but found that my registry contained the key path specified as
     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Workrave\
but not the sub-keys of
     Monitor\Idle

Is it still possible to modify this parameter?

I only want to extend it to maybe 15-seconds, but noted a limit of 30-seconds because of interference with other timing parameters.  Is this also correct?

Thanks, Dave...
