configure: error: X11 required on Unix platform

Hello
When I try to configure workrave in OpenSUSE 11.3 I get this message:
......................
checking for X... no
configure: error: X11 required on Unix platform

I have installed xorg-x11-devel in my system. Any ideas?

Thanks

Avoid icon in Gnome Panel

Howdy,

I've just updated to Ubuntu 10.04 and started to play with Workrave
1.9.1 (the version that comes with Lucid Lynx). It seems to work just
fine, but one thing that I find annoying and cannot seem to configure,
is the icon that appears in the Gnome Panel. I would prefer to have no
icon displayed at all and everything running in the background. Looking
through the preferences, I've found no option to achieve such behavior.
Is there a way to configure Workrave 1.9.1 to this extent? Would using
the latest version make a difference?

Thanks for your any help.

Best regards,

Marco Hunsicker

There is no official 1.9.2 Debian/Ubuntu package from us. I also don't know
any third party packages. Sorry.

On Windows, the notification area (also known as the system tray, the area
with the icons in the right bottom of your screen, near the clock) should
contain an icon of a white sheep. Windows might have hidden the icon. If so,
you have to expand your notification area (On Windows 7, you have to click on
a small upward pointing triangle located at the left side of all the icons).
Right-click on the white sheep icon and select 'preferences'.

On Linux you can find a similar workrave sheep icon on your screen (gnome
should show the icon in the gnome panel)

Yes, you can disable the icon in the panel: In the 'User Interface' settings,
'General' tab: disable 'Show system tray icon' and in the 'Applet' tab:
disable 'Applet enabled'.

Just for the fun of it, I installed OpenSUSE in a VirtualBox..

Workrave compiled with the following devel packages installed:

cairo-devel
cairomm-devel
check-devel
dbus-1-devel
dbus-1-glib-devel
fontconfig-devel

glibmm2-devel
gnome-panel-devel

xorg-x11-libXv-devel
xorg-x11-proto-devel
xorg-x11-util-devel

zlib-devel

I disabled dbus support because OpenSuse lacked the python-cheetah package.

I just tried that. On Ubuntu 10.04, the 'General' tab only has a 'Block
mode' drop-down box, and no 'Show system tray icon' checkbox. Would be
convenient, though. Maybe we should add it? ;-)

The only option I see on the General tab is "Block mode". Should there
be more options? Remember that I'm using 1.9.1.

I will try whether 1.9.2 makes a difference here. Thanks.

Cheers,
Marco
