Disabling Logs?

Just a quick question, under Linux, is there a way to disable the logging feature? I simply don't have a use for it and would like to turn it off.

What linux distribution to use when building workrave?

Can you recommend a particular linux distribution and version that is suitable for building Workrave on?

I tried to build Workrave on Ubuntu 8.04.1 (2.6.24-19-generic) but I got stuck very early.  When trying to run build-cross.sh I got the error message "checking whether the C compiler (gcc  ) works... no)"

If there is a linux distribution that you know that the build scripts work on without problems I would like to that distribution instead of Ubuntu 8.04.1. I have a spare computer where I have my linux installation and I will not use it for anything else than building Workrave.

Now I have some time again, I looked in the SVN of WorkRave for the  
example. But I can only find a script for setup/installation.

But is in a future an other solution in design? Like an XML-file  
containing the actual stat of Workrave or some sort of signalling?
