WinXP and no sound when a break ends

  Hello!

  I've WorkRave configured to play sounds using the sound
card on a Windows XP machine. When breaks are started, I
can hear a sound being played, but when a break ends,
nothing is played.
  Where can I configure what gets played when a break ends?

Thank you!

Light Linux Version

Thanks for Workrave!

I'm using it at home where it was a snap to install on my Gentoo box.

But here at work is where the damage is done. Unfortunately, IT has locked us into Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.
I tried the source install, but it quickly led to library dependency hell (gnome, gtk, ...). (RHEL3 is so
out of date.)

Is it possible to ship a light version of Workrave that's easy to install anywhere? A command line (non-gui)
version would be perfect.

Thanks again.

Re: Light Linux Version

The program is divided into a «backend» and a «frontend». So I think it will
be easy to make a console frontend. -- But then again, I can't program C.

There used to be a *very* simple text-only version. It was dropped some
while ago. It shouldn't be to difficult to create a new non-gui frontend.

Quite some people asked me to create a statically linked version of
workrave for similar reasons. This is still on my todo list...

Workrave uses Windows sound events that can be configure in the control
panel. By default, workrave should play an end-break sound...

In the mean time the best way to successfully compile workrave (or any
gtkmm software, in my case that was inkscape) on an older machine is to
use GARNOME (2.8.2.1 is a good candidate right now) which will can
automatically download, build and install the GNOME standard bindings
(including gtkmm). Specifically, download GARNOME, tweak the config file
(though by default it installs into your home directory), cd bindings
and type make paranoid-install.

Of course you *do* need quite a bit of disc space ...

Statistics format?

If I wanted to make a graph of my usage (averaged over a week for the past
two years), how do I read the data format?

Re: Statistics format?

I hacked it a bit - but never got the total control over it. - I also
wanted to make something bigger - actually, I tried learning C and GTK
to implement a statssystem into workrave to tell how much I'm using
the computer on a daily basis etc. -- But it just kept segfaulting :p

So then I just made a little bash-script, but I soon got tired.
Anyway; here you have the script - I've figured out a bit of the
format, but not all of it. :p

This is the pattern I found, this is the format for these things as I see it:
# nr 7 RepPrompt+BrPromt PromtedTaken Natural BrSkipped BrPost BrPromt

-----

#!/bin/bash

#cat liten | grep "B 0"| cut -d " " --f 4
b=0;t=0

# EDIT THIS TO YOUR WORKRAVE-STAT-FILE-PATH :]
fil="/home/odin/.workrave/historystats"
echo Odin's Workrave stat-script
echo
# nr 7 RepPrompt+BrPromt PromtedTaken Natural BrSkipped BrPost BrPromt
OverdueSec
printf "\t\tRepPrmt\tPrmtTok\tNatural\tBrkSkip\tBrkPstp\tBrkPrmt\tOverdue\n"

# lagstat <breaktype(0-2)> <field(4-7)>
function lagstat() {
        t=0

This is how statistics file looks like:

| WorkRaveStats 4

Version 4 file

| D 28 5 104 18 55 28 5 104 18 58

Start and enddate.

In this case 28 June 2004 18:55 til 28 June 2004 18:58.
Months start at 0, years at 1900

| B 0 7 1 0 0 0 0 1 117

Already explained by Odin, but still...

 From left to right

B = Break info.
0 = Break id (0 = microbreak, 1 = restbreak, 2 = daily limit)
7 = number of remaining values
1 = number of time prompted to take the break
0 = number of breaks taken
0 = number of natural breaks taken
0 = number of times the break was skipped
