I am wonder if any one knows when Novell will take the following

SLES10 repositories

I'm embarking on my first 'real' build of a SLES10 server (configuring a Spam gateway).
I have a question about online repositories.
Since my box is all registered with Novell, and has the official update site listed as a Online Update
source, are there any other SLES10 repositories out there for updates, or should this one official site be
adequate? I'm trying to install mysql-administrator (from dev.mysql.com), but there are rpm
dependencies that I seem unable to resolve. I'm just wondering if I'm going about this the correct way.

Sorry if I sound like a newbie, but I'm one of those NW guys who is gradually venturing deeper into the Linux
world ..

Cheers.

RE: Upgrade from NW5.1 sp8 to OES NW6.5 sp5

Hi! Good luck! =)
And please let us know how it goes. We have our master server also NW 5.1
(NW 6.5 OES is also installed into tree) and we have to (probably next
summer or so) move also ahead. Even NW 5.1 is ... ok. In-place upgrade will
be our choice, I think (because old box is not so old concerning hardware).
Most are we interested how to handle SYS, because it stays (as I understood)
after in-place upgrade with traditional file system, not NSS.
More thanks, Alar from Tartu University, ESTONIA.

Hey, Curtis!

Thanks so much! I was able to get to the doc.. I just breezed through
it quickly and it seems very thorough and a god send! Thanks.. We will
be doing the upgrade on Friday.. Wish me luck!

We've done several in-place upgrades to NW6.5 with great success. Even
NDPS seems to come up working. I agree with Joe D. that a migration to
a new box is better because then you have a fresh, clean OS to run on.
But if the old server is fairly clean -- doesn't have any unique
configurations or hasn't been in-place upgraded before, and the hardware
has the power, then I'd go ahead with in-place. If you choose to
migrate to a new box. I can share with you a document that we've
developed here at my shop that gives us a step-by-step checklist to

Another Question: RE: Upgrade from NW5.1 sp8 to OES NW6.5 sp5

Ok.. now my boss wants to know how we can permanently uncompress a
compressed MAIL volume and if we can do this, when is the best time to
do it... Before, during or after the inplace upgrade?

thanks!

We have a few oldie moldie NW 5.1 sp8 servers that need to be upgraded
to OES Netware 6.5 sp5. What is the best route? Inplace upgrades? Are
there any gotchas with doing an inplace upgrade? Any words of wisdom?
Please share.

thanks

Only way I know to do it is: Backup, delete, restore
Variation: Migrate to other uncompressed volume, delete original,
recreate, migrate back

I think I'd do this separately from the upgrade. No need to borrow
extra trouble.

GW client display window

I have an end user that somehow changed the setting for his "view" of
"Mail" and "Mail (simple)"...
They have become one in the same, and not what he prefers.
He's lost the side area buttons when creating and reading e-mail, etc.
- which seems to be the end of the world for him.

How can I correct this "problem"?

Thanks

Re: GW client display window

Well, discovered the "reason" if you will...
GW 6.5 and GW 7 clients in Cache mode don't display the buttons (Send,
Cancel, Address and Attach) but Online Mode does!!!!
