Re: installing DS, server in DMZ

Despite having added stuff to iptables that (I presumes) allow ICMP, I still find no repsonse and see this in /var/messages

"Apr 1 10:03:20 office kernel: OUTPUT IN=eth2 OUT=eth0 SRC=192.168.1.101 DST=192.168.0.107 LEN=40
TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=127 ID=56273 PROTO=ICMP TYPE=8 CODE=0 ID=769 SEQ=51907"

Maybe this is not the firewall issue at all?

Re: installing DS, server in DMZ

Mmmm, never mind. At least for the DS part. Backing away from the firewall focus
One understands that ping is *not* needed, unless one chooses the first item
in the menu "undiscovered tree". Sheesh. Kids today.

Adding a drive to a raid 5 array then to an NSS pool

I recently installed a new drive in Dell 2500 with raid 5. I used the
fastcli to initialize the disk and to add it to the container. Now the
container shows the space in the container but it doesn't show up in
consoleOne as free space. I can't find anything in the TIDs that
explains how to make the new space (new drive) show up so that it can be
added to an existing pool.

Am I missing something?

you should be able, in nssmu, to see the new device, and then to
initialize it. Once it has been initialized, then the space becomes
available for adding to a pool.

Re: Adding a drive to a raid 5 array then to an NSS pool

It SHOULD show up as additional space on the existing device -
depends on the array card. Some, IIRC show the new space as a whole
new drive, others as extra, unpartitioned space.

yeah, that gets confusing.

It seems with compaq/hp stuff, there is a differece between extending
and expanding the array.

One of them I think the OS sees as a whole new drive (which is really
part of the existing hardware raid array, but because the OS sees it
as a new drive, you have to initialize it) and the other ... just
adds extra free space to the existing 'device' that .... the os sees
as suddenly larger.

Just tell 'em it's hardware virtualization!

Force-Run MSI-type NAL App

Hello Folks,

Having recently upgraded to Zenworks 7 (from 4), I thought I would
configure a NAL app to automatically distribute and install the latest
ZfdAgent.msi onto a large number of workstations.

I have previously installed several (non-msi) workstation-associated
force-run applications which either Install or Execute perfectly
happily, but using the MSI NAL App, although it logs the application as
"Distribution Success" and "Cache Success", it does not actually install
the Zfd Agent.
If I have a user run the application by clicking a NAL icon, it works
fine.

Is there something I am missing?

All of my workstations have Netware Clients, but I have tried with or
without Force-Cache as well as Disconnectable or not. It is configured
to "Install Only", but this seems correct as it certainly works if run
manually. Bizarrely, although I have reboot "if needed" and "prompt", if
I set the applications to "Distribute Always", my PC that has had the
app run manually, reboots itself cyclically until I remove the
"Distribute Always" again.

Another minor thing is that the documentation says that I can use the
Load Balancing and Fault Tolerance features, and although these options
are available for my other apps, this one only has Load Balancing
available. Is that correct for all MSI apps?

I do not want to give up on MSI NAL applications, but unless I can work

OT: Looking for Linux ML

Hi; it's me again.

This strikes me as the best place to ask. Is there a Linux mailing list out there somewhere
with a level of quality approaching this Netware mailing list?

Thanks.
