Re: Item barcode number required in Over Due Report Req - Reg.

Respected All ( Koha Developers, Users and Liblime Team Members )

Please consider this request as a behalf of all koha users.

In Over Due report we need Item barcode number.

By default this item barcode number is not appearing along with Title and Author, To display the dues list on notice board or for circulating the over dues list this field is required.

But in OPAC user login, this field item barcode is appearing along with due date, title and author.

Please give the solution for this problem.

Thanks and Regards

The precise commands depend on many variables, but either
INSTALL.debian or the packages by Chris Cormack
http://blog.bigballofwax.co.nz/tag/debian/
should give you a good start. If it's not working, please tell the
list what you've tried and how it failed.

Hope that helps,

Apache problem?

Hello,

I have installed koha, successfully as far as I can tell, but I cant get
the installer up.

I have run

sudo a2enmod rewrite
sudo a2ensite koha
sudo apache2ctl restart

and created the symlinks (which do point to the right place)

but I still get the default apache page.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Harry

Re: Apache problem?

Hello,

Are you just trying the default URL of the full path to the re-directed .pl like

{your domain name}/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl

(You will find the exact path inside the VirtualHost section you created for Koha in your apache httpd configuration)

Once you try this, you may start seeing any errors that are occurring. This is very much par for the course. You might want to tail your koha-error and other logs at the same time.

Typically you have to fix some small errors/get some missing Perl modules before everything works.

Thanks and regards,

Re: Apache problem?

Have you tried these paths?

http://localhost:8080
http://127.0.1.1:8080
http://machine-name-here:8080

Note that the second suggestion is 127.0.1.1 -- not the usual 127.0.0.1
(localhost).

Congratulations to Rosalie Blake

Hi all

Just wanted to bring to the community's attention the fact that
Rosalie Blake (the Head librarian at Horowhenua Library trust, and a
massive reason why Koha exists) was just awarded a lianza fellowship.

Lianza is the Library and Information association of NZ Aotearoa, and
a fellowship is the highest honour they bestow.
The article on the lianza site is
http://www.lianza.org.nz/development/awards/professional/2008-recipients.html

And I did a quick blog post at
http://blog.bigballofwax.co.nz/2008/11/03/rosalie-blake-is-now-a-lianza-fellow/

So huge congrats to Rosalie and all her team at Horowhenua Library
trust, may they always continue their trail blazing ways :)

Re: Acquisitions

We are using acquisitions and generally it works fine. Except couple things:

  1. There is still a bug and I can not run a list of items received. There is an amount in a summary but not titles. I wonder if others are getting that list…

  2. When the item is on order, you actually do not see that in OPAC. Our patrons only see the bib record without item attached. So you do not know if the title is on order or it is some kind of a error record without an item…

  3. Receiving of multiple copies is time consuming as well. For example, we had 150 copies to receive and all of them had to be entered manually. If you have done it with 10, you should know how it feels to enter 150 barcodes, shelving places, etc.!

I am not mentioning any nice things that Koha has… If you are looking for a free soft, it is still worth getting it!

Subject: [Koha] Acquisitions

Does anyone out there use the acquisitions function of KOHA? I've been calling libraries in the U.S. that use KOHA and so far they all tell me that they don't use the acquisitions. Several have told me, "they've heard it leaves a lot to be desired," but can't give me a specific reason why. Any feedback?
Thanks,
Leslie G.

Dear Koha Users
I am a superlibrarian for our koha library system. In the system, some patrons
are duplicated and I have been trying to delete the duplicates. However, they
never get trashed off. What do I do?
