Koha OPAC Question

We are looking at next gen interfaces for our catalog and Koha was
something we were interested in looking at, however at this point we are
not interested in switching our ILS. We were wondering if the OPAC
interface for Koha could be used with a different back-end or if it was
pretty tied to the Koha back-end. If it could be used outside of the
Koha ILS system, what would be required for a back-end.

Thanks,

Re: Facing Issue during Installation of KOHA

Hi Sai,
Try downloading it again. I just verified that the file posted at
http://www.koha.rwjr.com/ is good and not corrupted, so I think
something must have happened during your download.

A successful download should give you a file that is 23,894,553 bytes in
size and it will have the following MD5 hash:

    03dbb90b684a785cf93dc278083b0456 Koha2.2.9-W32-R1.EXE

If you still have problems, let me know off list and I'll try posting in
on another server in a different geographic region and send you a link.

Ah, OK - I had missed that concept.  I was just going to have all the staff login as "kohaadmin".  Ok, I'll setup individual staff members with escalated privileges - thanks for the tip.

Need to know the score, the latest news, or you need your Hotmail®-get your "fix". Check it out.

Is this worth submitting an enhancement request over?

Possibly, but the usual solution would be vhosts (http://staff/ would be your intranet, http://opac/, your OPAC).

Specifically, using name-based VirtualHosts or variously named VirtualHosts on different interfaces (IPs) would put the two cookies into different namespaces, so they would not conflict in any browser (in fact, they would be protected from cross-site access, since to the browser they would be different sites).

But your idea about keeping the cookies separately named is a good one.

Small aside: I understand that letting all staff login as "kohaadmin"
may violate privacy laws in some countries, because you may not be
able to trace which librarian accessed which patron's personal data if
there's a problem.

This isn't a koha-specific matter, though.

Re: how to change the year in the source

Hi Jayadev,
You should find that block of code in circulation.tmpl.

Its location will depend on which template you are using. For the default english template, the file should be at C:\Usr\koha228\intranet\htdocs\intranet-tmpl\default\en\circ and that code is in lines 133 to 137.

If you are using a different template, you need to find the circulation.tmpl file for that template and edit it.
