How do I find the intercept for y+3/2x-3?

can i draw a graph of f(x)=ax ?

i need that kind of graph desperately,,i tried to do something with your
program to do it, but i can't find it!! I mean the fit you get from points of
your table data. i remember When I used a program in my high school computers,
I could draw that linear fit, f(x)=ax. but with this program, there's built-in
linear fit of only f(x)=ax+b. and when i tried to make a new one, there were so
many weird functions and I couldn't make a completely new function, like f(x)
=ax. I have to plot y=ax graph, not a y=ax+b graph... can you help me???

Re: Graph-support digest, Vol 1 #52 - 3 msgs

Are you wanting to plot a linear trendline of the form y = a*x?
If so, after plotting points, Insert Trendline, select User Defined, and
type in a new function type: $a*x
(the $ means a nwill be varied to get the best fit)
Add model, and possibly edit model (make a=1 if that's roughly the order of
magnitude you will be fitting).
Hope this helps

Can the program tell me where lines interesect?

How do I get the program to tell me where the lines intersect when I insert 2
different functions? I think this would be far more accurate than me trying to
figure out where they intersect from sight and possibly being off. TIA!

Select Calc|Evaluate in the menu, select one of the functions and choose
Intersection in the "Snap to" list. Now when you click on the image
Graph will show you the nearest intersection, so you just have to click
near the intersection you are interested in.

installation of graph program help

hello,

I downloaded the graph program onto my Mac (O/S X), and when it asked me to
choose in which program I wanted to open it, I selected Microsoft Office,
Power Point. It couldn't be opened in Power Point, but when I try to open it
in Word or Excel, it just defaults to the Power Point program and won't let
me try to open it in any other program. I tried to put it in the trash and
download it anew, but it still defaults to Power Point and cannot open. What
should I do?

thanks,

Graph is a Windows program and doesn't run natively on a Mac. But I have
heard that it should be possible to run Graph on a Mac under QemuX
(http://cordney.com/QemuX). You may want to try that.

Animations

Hi

First of all a big thank you, for making that georgeous little program.

I have a little suggestion to make. It would be perfect if you could add a
running variable to your function, which would then run from a start to end
value in specified steps.

So something like this

y(t) := sin(t)
x(t) := sin(2t+z)

z is the running var and goes from 0 to 10 in 20 steps (with p.ex. 2 steps per
second)

When you enter ok you see the function with z = 0 and then there should be some
kind of play button, where z runs from 0 to 10 (maybe there could be a loop or
so)

That for example would be great to demonstrat Lissajous curves.

Maybe you think about that.

Kind Regards

Thanks for the suggestion. I am currently considering adding something
similar to version 4.2. But you will probably have to do each step
manually, though I might add the automatic play later.

Best regards
