Treo 600/Mac OSX/Bell Canada

I have just purchased a Treo 600 and I want to test the wireless modem
capability using my PowerBook G3 running OSX. My carrier is Bell Canada on
the 1X network (shared with Telus).

I've had a quick look through the archives, but I can't get the list search
function working, so I apologize if I'm repeating something that has already
been covered.

Is anyone successfully using this configuration?

I have 5 days left before I am stuck with the Treo 600, and although I like
it, I really want a device that I can use as a GPRS/CDMA wireless modem for
my laptop.

speed

Dear Users, I have successfully installed the modem software and used
it, but can't seem to get reliable results at the 230,000 speed. Seems
OK at 115,200. Anyone else have this problem on a treo 600 using
sprint?
    Thanks, Kevin OBrien

Re: speed

Kevin,

You may be having the same issue that I have. I also have a Treo600 on
Sprint and if I try to drive above 115200 it hangs consistently (actually
the only thing I've gotten to work semi reliably is to use the debug
versions which seem to slow things down enough to keep the modem from
hanging) From conversations on this list this seems to be something that
only happens to some 600 users. Go back and read the September list for
details.

Hope that helps,
-Craig

Mac OS X 10.3.6 and WModem?

Has anyone used WModem with 10.3.6?

Good, bad, indifferent?

news on updates?

Is there any new news (or updates) for the USB issue for palm 600s? Also,
does anyone know if WM works with the new treo 650s via USB and/or
Bluetooth?

Thanks,
Shannon

Re: news on updates?

If you follow threads over at TreoCentral, someone has figured how to 'patch'/hack the BT stack in the new
T650 (Sprint only at this time), to uncover the hidden settings for BT Modem use. This appears to work (with
some glitches) WITHOUT the need for WirelessModem or the comparable PC version (PDANet) on your Mac/PC or
on your Treo. You would still need WirelessModem for those times when you plan to tether your T650 and not
use Bluetooth.

YMMV.

None really. But I may finally have a unit to reproduce the problem on
soon.

I have no 650, so I can't comment there.

Unfortunately there are no updates on this. WirelessModem won't work
out of the box over USB with the 650 as the USB IDs change. I'll see
what I can do to update for it.

See the other message in this thread about BT. As much as I hate to say
this, I'd recommend waiting for Sprint to release the update or to use
the patch mentioned in the thread.
