Linux Professional Institute revises objectives for LPIC-2 and LPIC-3
Linux certification programs

(Sacramento, CA, USA: June 18, 2013) The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI: http://www.lpi.org), the world's premier Linux certification
organization, announced it has completed an extensive review and update
of the exam objectives for their LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 certification
programs. The new exams for LPIC-2 will be available November 1, 2013
in English and LPIC-3 will be available October 1, 2013 in English.
Other language for both certification programs TBA.

"These updates of our LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 certification program represent
significant changes in our advanced-level Linux certifications and are
the result of extensive consultations with industry leaders, partner
organizations, Linux professionals and others active in the Linux and
Open Source Software ecosystem. We appreciate their input and interest
in continuing to "set the bar" in defining the necessary knowledge and
skill set for Linux professionals," said G.Matthew Rice, director of
product development for LPI. Mr. Rice noted in particular the movement
of Capacity Planning and OpenLDAP topics into LPIC-2 and the "one exam"
approach to LPIC-3 certification (i.e. one of LPI-300, LPI-303 or
LPI-304) as notable and significant changes to these advanced-level
certifications.

Changes to the LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 certification programs were originally
announced in January:

Hi Guus,

I can help with this one.  Although, this isn't "official" source
(mostly because it's on a public wiki ;)), the various objectives have
had version updates as recently as last year (2012):

    http://wiki.lpi.org/wiki/LPIroger, C-1_Objectives#Version_Upgrade_Addendum_.28Jul_2st.2C_2012.29
and
    http://wiki.lpi.org/wiki/LPIC-2_Objectives#Version_Upgrade_Addendum_.28Aug_1st.2C_2012.29

both less than a year ago.
[snipped: developments]

Ah, thank you. I completely overlooked these.
I took the liberty to change the entries for LPIC-1 and -2 on wikipedia. -3 should also be updated, but better by someone who has a little more insight in this part then i currently have (getting late here ;).

visibility of exam developments / outdated information

Hello,

i just read some questions about LPI and it's relevancy on another list. One of the remarks was that the objectives seemed a bit outdated (2009) and that there was not much going on.

As a member on this list i know better of course, but a little digging showed that the 2009 remark came straight from wikipedia: <quote> First published 11 January 2000, revised 2005, newly revised 2009. </quote>.

A little more digging showed that it was actually not that easy to show the reality. One of the more relevant links was the news item from last January [2], but that was also the best i saw in a quick search. I think LPI has done a great job promoting LPIC in the past, but it seems to lag a little nowadays.

So my main question would be: would it be possible to create an overview of the changes in the certifications through the years? Just to show potential candidates that LPI is still alive and kicking.
I think this specific subject could make for a very nice article on the LPI-blog and also brings me to a second suggestion; the news blog is fairly nice as it is, but could categories/tags be added so even older items can be found easy and quickly?
