Interested in reviving metalog a bit

Hello,

I've recently come across metalog and it is very sad to see a great
application with this much potential be somewhat abandoned. I know life
happens. I'm not an excellent programmer, but I have lots of resources and I
have been thinking about helping bring this project back to active
development. Does anyone still work on this project or is anyone else
interested in bringing it back?

Regards,

Jeff MIxon

RE: Interested in reviving metalog a bit

Syslog-NG seems to be where more of the activity has gone these days,
based on my personal observation. Perhaps the two projects could be
merged, combining the best parts of both and pooling the interest and
resources. My knowledge about the similarities/differences between the
two is too superficial to be able to judge if this is a reasonable
approach.

Any takers?

Re: Interested in reviving metalog a bit

Im using an old metalog (0.7.0) with a simple diff to generate syslog
compatible log files, mostly because all log processing tools support
syslog file format. The patch was posted by me some time ago to this
list.

Maybe we can work together in a new version of metalog and complete
some unfinished things, like threading, a user configurable file
format, network logging, etc.
