ANNOUNCE
************

This is version 2.0 of the GNUSTEP LIVE CD and Distribution.

What is GNUSTEP?
================

GNUSTEP is a LIVE CD, that is based on Debian "sid".
If installed to harddisk, it's a complete operating system, with
development environment. So it's also a distribution
of GNUstep.

Noteworthy changes in version `1.9'
=====================================

    * Added alot of more GNUstep software, and updated it
      to the latest versions.

    * More fonts.

    * Improved running/bootup speed.

    * New software: Fontmatrix, GrafX2, Emacs 23.x, MyPaint,
      Google Chrome, Vamps, Lives...

    * Comes with a Linux kernel 2.6.31.

How can I get support for this software?

ANN: BatMon 0.4

B A T T E R Y    M O N I T O R  0.4
-----------------------------------

WHAT IS IT:

Battery monitor is a small utility that displays the status of your
laptop battery (charge/discharge and status). I works best with linux
2.6 kernels and ACPI, but now has also support for 2.4 kernels and APM.
It runs also on FreeBSD thanks to patches by Chris Vetter.

What is new in 0.4 ?
- enhanced graphics
- bug fixes
- carhging/discharging display with icon
- support for APM and workarounds for missing/bogus values
- support for 2.4 kernels

WHERE:

Battery Monitor is part of GAP, the GNUSTEP Application Project
(http://www.nongnu.org/gap/). Specifically its pages are:

ANN: PRICE 0.9.0

P. R. I. C. E.  0.9.0
---------------------

I released a new version of price, 0.9.0, today.

What is PRICE?
It stands for Precision Raster Image Convolution Engine and is an
application that is capable of filtering and processing images. It is
available on both GNUstep (thus linux, netbsd, freebsd, openbsd,
solaris) and Macosx (tested from 10.1 Puma and up). It is multi-document
based and can open all standard images supported by gnustep (tiff, png,
jpg to cite some). It is capable of doing standard operation like
crop&scale or brightness&contrast as well as more advanced operations
with frequency-based filters or median filters or customizeable edge
tracing.

Where to find it?
http://price.sf.net
where you will find also some online documentation which you will
probably need to understand better how to use the program.

PRICE is GPL'd and each filter is a separate class with well-defined
interfaces so I encourage the reuse of them in other applications.

What are the news?
- fixes to build on current glibc and current compilers with
optimizations enabled.
- new, unified, PRFilter architecture which simplifies all the
controllers and unifies parameter passing with an Array
- all PRTransform actions (rotations, flips, transposition) now support

What are the news?

The 0.9.0 version had some dirty code with handling a window outlets and
window resize notification which caused crashes on GNUStep, while it
worked on the Mac.
This has been addressed and 0.9.1 is thus a bug-fix release.
