VW 7.1.1 with postGreSQL 9.0.3 for StORE

Hi !

Did anybody observe the same problem as me:
With PostGreSQL 8.4.4 for StORE my image works just fine.

With PostGreSQL 9.0.3, the image disconnects from the StORE repository whenever it likes, at least
after each single action.

Do I need some new packages for the new PostGRE version ?

Karl

Re: VW 7.1.1 with postGreSQL 9.0.3 for StORE

I haven't used a 9.0 Postgresql, but nothing jumps out on the list of incompatibilities. Except perhaps that the default format of bytea data has changed. If you're getting disconnected, there's probably an underlying exception you can get to by hitting control-Y and scrolling down far enough. That might indicate something.

Re: VW 7.1.1 with postGreSQL 9.0.3 for StORE

Hello,

since 9.0, the default output method for bytea columns is 'hex', not
'escape'.

Edit postgresql.conf:

bytea_output = 'escape'  # hex, escape

Font mismatch on Sony laptop with Windows 7

We encountered a problem with a Font mismatch on a Sony
laptop running Windows 7. I seem to recall seeing an issue
about this a year or more ago. Does anyone have information
on this?

Thanks.

Terry

Just to update people on the list, we looked at this problem and concluded that in this particular case the
SSL layer correctly detects a missing SSL close_notify alert, which is a required protection against
truncation attacks. The HTTP layer responds to this condition with the ParsingSimpleBodyError. It
would not be correct to suppress this exception in the framework, it is up to the application to accept the
possibly incomplete body (and resume the exception) or abort and do whatever error handling is necessary.

I wouldn't mind getting more details about the related issue with the gzipped content and why resuming the
exception in that case doesn't work. However I'm fairly confident that the proposed fix that suppresses
the SSLRecordError at the framework level is not acceptable general solution. That of course doesn't
mean that it's not acceptable in particular instance.

That's, ah, Edinburgh, _Scotland_, actually - or Edinburgh, United
Kingdom, or Edinburgh, Great Britain, or Edinburgh, Albion, or
Edinburgh, Britannia, or ....

Saying 'England' for 'Britain' abroad is quite usual but saying
'Edinburgh, _England_' is not quite geographically accurate - and may
draw the occasional comment from the natives :-)

Please correct the above line _before_ distributing widely.

Sames, for what it's worth we don't use it and don't plan to use it. Last thing I want is discouraging someone
from contributing once they have access to the repository internally, but for public stores that's a
whole other story.

Sames,

We have it never installed and recommended to all of our customers not to
use it. Thus from my viewpoint it could go away.

Dear Friends,

As some may know, Store has "Management Tables" and a system whereby an
"Administrator" can provide, if used with the OwnerOwershipPolicy, allows
"Granting" Read and Publish (or none) rights to Bundles and Packages.

We are considering if we should remove the feature or replace it with
something else... So....

First, does anyone use this?
And if so, do you use it "Plain Out Of The Box"?
And if NOT, what kind of extensions have you implemented?

If you have looked at this feature and have decided not to use it, Why?

What features would you like to see in a "new" Administration system?
