mungkin bagi temen2 ada yg tertarik berikut adalah kualifikasi yg kami cari
:

   - 2 - 5 years experience with writing and maintaining Ruby on Rails code
   - Experience with Linux/UNIX/OSX Rails development is preferred
   - Solid Javascript skills, you'll need to know about things like: AJAX,
   JSON, & JS Frameworks #jQuery, Prototype, etc.#
   - Understanding of modern web standards #html/xhtml, css, best practices,
   etc
   - Familiarity with version control systems
   - Experience in developing high-traffic sites is prefered
   - Experience with large scale project methodologies and tools
   (requirements gathering, configuration management, workflow design, and
   quality assurance)
   - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
   - Exceptional communication skills

Good news or bad news?

Matz join Heroku [1], Heroku sendiri sudah di acquired sama Salesforce
akhir tahun 2010 kemarin [2]

"When I last met Mr Marc Benioff (CEO of Salesforce.com) he asked me
how he could support the development of Ruby.

So I told him that I want to improve the situation which the majority
of Ruby Core developers face, that they are either doing their work in
their own spare time or they worry about their job security.

He said he could provide us some support and that's why I decided to
join Salesforce.com through Heroku (Note: Several members of Ruby Core
are currently under negotiation to join Heroku).

So, the core of our work will not change. Our mission is to develop
Ruby Core, to make Ruby more functional and higher quality. Having
said that, I am expecting that the job security we are being provided
and Ruby usage feedback we get from heavy Ruby users such as Heroku
will accelerate the progress of Ruby development. Otherwise, there
would be no point to accepting the offer."

hehehe.. mbah Dio ini, aku takon malah ditakoni balik :)

menurutku yo good news asal jalan ceritanya nggak kayak Sun yang digondol sama Oracle, minimal Ruby Core
bisa full time kerja buat MRI / CRuby digaji sama Heroku & nggak mikiri 'dapur'. Katanya Ruby Core yg lain
juga lagi dijajaki join ke Heroku. Tapi ya mbuh juga ini bagus apa nggak buat community.

Cara paling sederhana utk mendeteksi bad news dr masalah ini adalah: "apakah ada LISENSI yg berubah atas
kode2 yg dihasilkan oleh orang2 RubyCore". Selama tak ada perubahan maka Ruby dlm kondisi Aman
Terkendali. Oracle mengakuisisi Sun sbnarnya gak masalah. Yg jadi masalah seluruh LISENSI berubah
menjadi seperti produk2 Oracle pd umumnya.

Ikutan nimbrung ya:D

Sepertinya ini kabar yang menurut ku sih bagus banget (iiya bener pake 
banget)
Soalnya kalau kita liat, pada dasarnya project opensource akan berjalan 
dengan baik dan mulus apabila ada dukungan dana.

Ada bebrapa contoh
Python yang pembuatnya bekerja di google dan fulltime ngurusi Python.
Node.js yang pembuatnya bekerja di joyent, perusahaan yg punya cloud 
service no.de
Java yang dulu diurus SUN sekarang dipengan Oracle (walau banyak 
kontroversi aku yakin Java akan tetep hidup dalam jangka waktu yg lama)
Rails sendiri ada 37signals dibelakangnya serta perusahan-perusahaan 
pendukung yang lain seperti Heroku dan EngineYard.

Kita lihat saja, setelah Matz di hire sama Heroku, perkembangan Ruby 
jadi sepertinya apa. Karena yang aku lihat untuk sekarang malah Rails 
lebih cepat berkembang dibanding Ruby itu sendiri.

Kalo Oracle tdk ngutik2 Lisensi produk2 Sun Microsystem, saya yakin
StarOffice, OpenOffice, dan OpenSolaris tidak akan ditinggalin sama
"pendukungnya". Tapi sayang, Oracle si penggelontor Duit mengubahnya dan
akhirnya??? Sebelum versi masing2 produk diubah lisensinya, di forking dulu
ke proyek lain semisal OpenOffice --> LibreOffice.

Duit boleh masuk, tp sistem/lisensi jangan diubah, kalo tidak bernasib sama
dengan Sun Microsystem.

Contoh lain, Ubuntu. Beberapa kode program dlm proyek Unity (Desktopnya
Ubuntu yg sedikit mengoprek2 GNOME), menggunakan lisensi Copyright
Assignment License yg namanya Canonical Contributor Agreement (bukan GPL v3
seperti punya GNOME yg normal), maka para hacker GNOME marah-marah. Mengapa?
Krn bila seorang programmer ikut serta dalam pembuatan Unity, maka
programmer itu menyerahkan sepenuhnya kepemilikan kpd koorporasi Ubuntu,
bukan kpd publik.

Pengubahan Lisensi sangat berpengaruh terhadap "iklim Komunitas" software yg
bersangkutan.
