Re: embed an R console into a web-page?

Right,

I followed the suggestion for the correct address to the Rweb page console, which is:

http://www.math.montana.edu/Rweb/Rweb.general.html

I pasted the sample code onto the text window, as per Rweb's instructions and this is what I got:

You don't have permission to access /jeff-bin/Rweb1.03/Rweb.cgi
on this server.

What must I do to have access to /jeff-bin/... ? Or does anyone know of another online R console page?

Thanks and regards,

jose romero

Hello list:

Perhaps this is not the appropriate mailing list for this question...
I would like to encourage the use R in my statistic courses in an open university (distance learning).  In
my webpage, I have written instructions on how to download and install R, how to download the semester's
project data file, some basic commands on the console to get certain things done (descriptive

It was working when this question first appeared but seems not to be
now. Don't know if this is temporary or not but google for Rweb
server. The University of Lyon Rweb server worked for me.

Org-mode example for writing quizzes/exams

The sample files are here:

http://github.com/gjkerns/samplequiz

It took me a shamefully long time to get this just right, and it's
still not perfect (an extra space here and there, the indentation...).
But the whole thing is very delicate. Well, not so much anymore.

For those interested but unfamiliar with Org-mode, open
"samplequiz.org" with Emacs and export to PDF with the sequence

C-c C-e d (twice for good measure)

and, to get an answer key, delete the single line

#+EXPORT_EXCLUDE_TAGS: answer

beforehand.

OT: Are you aware of working layout files for LyX, which would also
allow creating writing quizzes/exams via Sweave.

Thank you

Both yes and no:

No, I'm not aware of existing devoted layout files for quizzes/exams in LyX, but

Yes, with LyX + Sweave it's easy enough to throw a quiz together
without too much trouble. I have some examples here:

http://www.ysumathstat.org/faculty/kerns/video/STAT3743/02-RESOURCES/quizexam/

Looking back, it is/was much faster to write something like this with
LyX than Org-mode, but after this pain it might be easier. And
sometimes it's a matter of sport. :-)

Regards,
Jay
