Anybody heard of db2_classes.jar

. . . or of where it can be found in the IFS? (A colleague wants to know
all the places where it can be found).

Java Version?

Hi,

I am receiving the following Java error message on the AS400 when I try to
connect using SK's JDBCR4 JDBC_ConnProp

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/sourceforge/jtds/jdbc/Driver

I am currently running JDK 1.3.0 on V5R1M0. Am I just hopelessly out of
date?

Thanks,

RE: QSYSINC

Hi all,

I want to thank everyone that made suggestions on loading the System
Openness Includes and JDK 1.3 for v5.1 without the installation disks.
Ultimately, it was good old IBM that came through. They sent me a new set of
v5.1 disks. I had to fill out a form and go through a process, Withdrawn
Order Process and Template for Archived Product Code --i/pSeries (non
zSeries) and, viola, a new set of disks arrived in the mail. All of the
folks that I talked to at IBM were helpful and knowledgeable. They seemed
focused on helping me with my issue and not just getting through the call,
like so many other help desk centers I have dealt with. They even double
checked with me that I was okay with receiving these disks without software
support. They were concerned about my being able to use them without help,
not their getting a piece of the pie! (Try to get that kind of service from
Microsoft. It would be the equivalent of asking MS for a set of replacement
disks for Windows 98 or NT.) Best of all, it was FREE!! I am sorry for the
blatant plug here, but IBM support ROCKS!!!

Now that I have that fixed, do I need to set up a TCP/IP connection on the
AS400 with the server hosting the SQL database before trying to perform
Java/SQL commands to access data from it or just provide a path with the IP
address when I submit a connect command? I ask because my attempts thus far
have proved fruitless.

Thanks,

Jeff Burcher - IT Dept

Ports for SQL access

I've just been asked what ports are used for remote SQL access
(specifically JDBC access.

I may have known at one point, but I don't now, and

now just redirects me to:

Re: parsing data returned from a cgi call

I parsed it successfully using this example:

I need to extract the value of a html INPUT tag that is returned from a cgi
call? Any suggestion on best way to do this? The cgi that I'm calling
returns a html page that is not well formed. When I use XMLStreamReader to
parse it, it failed.

Thanks

I have always downloaded the archive to my PC, unpacked it there and
goten it running, tested my apps, then copied it to the dev/qa lpar on
the i. It's not all that big, even over vpn. I still have to run
crtjvapgm for everything, so I do that in dev/qa when nobody is around.
That job is a real oinker. Eventually, I sav and rst from the dev/qa lpar
to prod. Then the angels sing and we drink good beer.

Tomcat 7 on the i installation

Pete/All,

Thanks for the feedback. A few questions as I prepare to install.

I assume you downloaded Tomcat 7 binary core as a ZIP file?

I assume it will be much faster to copy the tomcat zip file to the IFS then
unzipping on PC and copying folders? What is the best way to unzip? Use
the Java jar command or can you use a mapped drive and just use WINZIP?

Thanks, Paul Holm

Error socket

Good morning.
I am creating a client socket and do not manage to read the
inputStreamReader.

Even the line "Eval String3 = readIb(ib)" works perfectly.

Some solution?? Thank you.

Running tomcat 7 on 5.4. No problems. I don't know if it's been a year
yet, but it's been in production for quite a while. Reloading apps seems
to work better then tomcat 6.
