Results from a bad sleep and call for packagers

Hi everyone,

Yes, I like cryptic subjects :)

So first, for people who wonder about my debian/ubuntu packages... Simply
put, October has been quite hectic, I just moved home, and I'm without a
correct internet connection at the moment, so packages won't be available
for a while, unfortunately.

Now, for the interesting stuff. I wasn't sleeping last night, so decided
to do some packaging-related work and testing on the trunk. Mostly, I've
been making sure everything is set to be installed where it should. That
goes for the icons, documentation, translations (more on that later), and
I got to what I hope is a pretty good situation. I successfully built and
installed debian packages from the trunk yesterday. So, if there is any
other distribution packager around, I would like any feedback from
attempts at making packages from the trunk.

Another thing I looked at was translations. I grabbed the example script
to update pot/po files from the KDE4 documentation, and it seemed to work,
though I'm not certain that the result was good. I will leave it to Robby
to decide whether he wants to update the files or not. That made me notice
what seems to be a bug in the CMake script for Gettext. Basically, It
won't work if you use cmake 2.6.1 or 2.6.2, so I disabled the .mo build
and installation for now.

Also, while testing, I noticed a couple of issues I hadn't seen before.
First, if I try to open a file, the open dialog won't display any file.
Second, I had a crash every time I tried to save a modified entry. I
couldn't get a debug trace, but will try that later.

[Regis, I forwarded your message on to the list. I'm not sure what the list
problems are.]

Neither of those issues show up for me. Let me know if you get a debug
trace.

Good to know. I hadn't worked on the translations or documentation yet.

I'm curious about what versions of KDE and Qt you're compiling with, too.
I've only been testing with KDE 4.1.3 and Qt 4.4.3 lately.

I package Tellico for Pardus (www.pardus.org.tr/eng/).

Is there anything specific you want me to test for trunk?

Thanks, reminds me of what happened a couple of years ago when mails
mentionning my repository were filtered out.

Will try to do that. Though it's a bit unfortunate that Tellico is quite
unhappy to run in the build directory. Makes it a bit more complicated
than it should be to debug...

Hi Doruk,

Thanks for the reply.

Well, since the build system is quite different from the original one
(cmake instead of autotools), it would be nice if you could just check
everything gets installed where it should. It would be basically that the
final result conforms to the distro KDE4 policy. For instance in Debian we
use /usr/share/kde4 instead of /usr/share/kde, which helped me spot an
mistake.

In short, report anything that looks wrong.

Thanks again

Regis

Ok, the open dialog works correctly now. Not sure what was wrong.
As for the crash, the backtrace told me it ws because of
"emit layoutChanged();", line 213 of src/models/entrygroupmodel.cpp

It looks like the crash happens when I try to save some entries containing
things like "</i>" in the description.

Can you send me the backtrace? I have yet to reproduce it.

Maybe effectively, you could do a multiple edit on the entries after you add
the 20-30 books from the box? If you have a Location field, then importing
books essentially adds them to the "(Empty)" box, right? After you import
the books for that box, then in the (Empty) group on the left, select all
of them, right-click to edit, and then set the location for all of them at
once. Wash, rinse, repeat.

So in this case, you still have th 60+ clicks to import, but just about 1 or
2 to label them.

That's really strange, Sometimes I can reproduce it everytime I try to
save a modification, and here I just managed to modify about 12 entries
before it eventually crashed. Backtrace attached.

I also nticed another couple of strange things. First, when I try to save
a file, say file.tc, it the saving of the file fails if file.tc~ exists.
Which is very anoying because it is created at the first

Request

Hello Robby, and list readers

First, as usal, thanks again for tellico, which I use nearly daily
currently to store my numerous CDs, DVDs, Comics, ...

Concerning CDs, I'd have one request:
Do you think it's possible/easy to add a new function. I'm importing my
CDs from the media itself. Thus the cover picture is never put in place.
I'd like to update just that (and also potentially the Amazon link which
I also do not get), but not the rest of fields, as I already pass a lot
of time normalizing them, compared to what CDDB provides.

Does it sound useful to others ?
Feel free to give me a pointer to the portion of code that I need to
hack to help myself, if you don't think it's interesting for you to do
it.

Greetings,
Bruno.
