Re: Tellico 1.3.3 Released

Just found this message when I returned after my holidays. Thanks for
the effort! Looking forward to try it out.

Problem with images.

Hi Robby,

I have created a guestbook in tellico and I have entered 1132 records.
Some of then have scanned images of pictures and other stuff the guests
have been drawing in our guestbooks. However, in the internal reports
columnview and groupview no images are shown.
Also the groupssummary looks strange. I attach some files.

/Peter

this question of the category view....

Robbie has withstood my proddings on this with great good humor. Here is why
its a problem.

In my case, tellico is being used for an indexed collection. The items have
one unique index number, assigned at the time of accession. The index field
is fairly meaningless. In defiance of good database practice it has a
meaning of sorts, but its a combination of year, month and ordinal position
of the item in accessions for that month. So it might be something like
Site1 2004.11.13.

The problem occurs when you are doing the three pane view. Your group is,
lets say, the type of item. These could be books, models, photos,
prints...etc.

You see in the left pane then, that you have 42 prints and 25 photos. You
wish to know more. So you click on a folder. At that point you see 25
identical icons all with the accession numbers under them. Stuff like, Site1
2004.2.3 This isn't very helpful because the legends tell you nothing.really
about the object.

This is why it would be nice to see instead, when you click on the folder, all
25 items appear in the top right pane, and then when you use that pane to
scroll through, the detail appearing in the bottom right.

I can see this might be different if you were indexing by book title, for
example.

How does anyone else feel about this?

importing csv

Strange problem. Installed debian lenny, got tellico through synaptic. Then
in the import csv dialogue, I see no files, only folders. Anyone think of a
reason for this? Do I have to have all of kde installed for the import and
therefore the find file dialogue to work?

Opening a tellico file however seems to work just fine, once I have done the
import on another machine. Also, funnily enough, debian lenny.

Puzzled.

Image list

Hi Robby,

1. First a question. I have in my guestbook 1132 entries.
It takes almost 2 minutes to load.
I have links to 46 images.
Is this loading time normal?

2. Bug issue:
When i generate an "Image List" fron the "Generate collection reports" button in the above application
I get a report with no images and with one "type of items (Textfält) twice, as can be seen in the attached file.

/Peter

Are the images saved in the data file, or do you have them saved in the
application directory? It's a setting in the configuration, and ssaving
them in the directory instead of the file is much much faster.

I'd need the actual data file to be able to figure out what's going on. Is
it very big?

That's rather odd. Does the dialog window caption say "Import File" ?

I still think the right-click, "Filter by group" does what you want. :P

In that case, it sound like you just want to use a different field as the
title, no?

They are not saved in the data file.
My structure looks like this:
/home/peter/Kataloger/Gästbok is where the tc-file is
and
/home/peter/Kataloger/Gästbok/Bilder is where the images are

No. I attach it.

Are they really big images? Do you have the column view set to show the
image field? In that case, they'll need to be loaded at startup. I took
your file, replaced the image links with links to one of my own images, and
the file still loads in less than 10 seconds. This is with the current
1.3.x branch.

Fixed that. Thanks for pointing it out.
