Went back to 1.3.6 and no more segmentation faults

Regis and Robby,

Went back to 1.3.6 - no alternative really, because my users have to have a
working installation, and I ran into the bug on clicking on thumbnails when
it came up and worked on my own home system. Anyway, downloaded the source,
compiled with the help of Regis directions, and all is well. The links of
the thumbnails to the pictures file need to be redone, but that they are ok
with, there are not that many of them. Don't know what went wrong here.

If there is anything I can do to help track down the segmentation faults,
happy to, I just need some help with what to do and how to do it.

Regards

Peter

tellico on mac os x 10.6.2 (snow leopard)

While being an avid linux user for about 8 or 9 years (and still) I've bought myself an iMac with Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard) a month ago.

I've been missing Tellico (and a LOT of other things) heavily and I was wondering if anyone here knows how to get Tellico to compile on Snow Leopard.

I realize there's an outdated fink package (1.2.x) but

(1) it's really outdated ~~ and ~~
(2) fink `also` needs to be built from source atm on Mac OS X 10.6.x.

When `trying` to build the latest tarball with macports cmake the first problem is a missing kde4-config...

Does anyone have any insight as to how getting this to work? Do I need ~all~ of KDE4 (or just Qt and it's dependencies)

Thanks - a lot- for anyone who cares enough to answer.

Segmentation faults Debian Squeeze?

I'm getting reproducible segmentation faults and crash with Debian Squeeze,
so this is 2.x, the latest packaged version. Two questions:

1) Is anyone else getting this?
2) How do I go back to 1.3.5 on Debian. I tried to compile from source but
it told me I had no suitable C compiler.

Thanks

Peter

Adressbook

Hi!

Using Tellico under SuSE 11.1 the following problem occurs:

when trying to make a loan using tellico 1.3.5 (KDE 3.5.10 "release 21.9"
openSuSE) everything looks fine, in the loaners view all entries from standard
adressbook are shown

when trying to make a loan using tellico 2.0 (KDE 4.3.4 "release 2") in the
loaners view no entries at all from standard adressbook are shown.

What is happening? How can I solve the problem?

Greetings
Martin

Re: File Chooser dialog

That does sound like a symptom of the same problem. Maybe something in the
Tellico .desktop file or the system cache is messed up? I'm just guessing,
no real idea.

Diacritics in the filter

Hi,

This is a minor issue, but it would be nice if the filter wasn't quite so picky with diacritics. For example, both "Joao Gilberto" and "João Gilberto" ought to return the same results, but as it is I have to ensure that I type all diacritics exactly. I know other programs have more forgiving search functions, so it ought to be possible.

Thanks,
Cene

Bug: Problem with Pictures

Hallo,
I use Tellico 2.1.1 and KDE 4.3.4 (Debian packages) and this is the error message by new entries with pictures.
"Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder
file:///home/markus/Tellico/filehomemarkusTellicoTatort_Bilder0496.jpg does not exist."
The picture path is: file:///home/markus/Tellico/Tatort_Bilder/0496.jpg

Thank you
Markus

Re: File Chooser dialog

I'm rather stumped then. Tellico doesn't do anything special with the file
chooser, I don't think. And I've not heard of this problem anywhere else.
I'll check the documentation again.

File Chooser dialog

Hello,
I am having a small problem opening files in Tellico. The file picker dialog
does not displace *.tc files using the default filter. Only when the filter is
set to "All Files" or "*.*" can I see a directory's Tellico collections.

I have the same problem why trying to import a file of any type. "All Files"
must be selected before anything actually appears and can be opened.

I am currently using 2.2.1 on KDE 4.3.4 under Slackware, but the problem
existed in previous releases of Tellico and KDE. It was compiled locally using
the script at <http://slackbuilds.org>.

Best, Ben

Happy Christmas and thanks

Robby, Happy Christmas, and many thanks for all your work in first writing
this splendid package, and then keeping it up to date and bug fixed. Your
clients, users, well, they are a bit more like friends really, they
appreciate it and are grateful.

Best wishes,

Al

Re: tellico-users Digest, Vol 5, Issue 12

Yes Robby, I have only my email as username. I actually don't know how to apply for a member account.

Are you doing this in the next release? Is there a schedule?

Anyway, now I am using google search that works great. I have just some problems sometimes because I can only search 1 field at a time, 2 fields would work better (e.g.: searching author and year).

Thanks!

Hmmm, looks  like there  are two different ways to authenticate, according
to
http://www.crossref.org/help/Content/05_Interfacing_with_the_CrossRef_system/Using_the_Open_URL_Resolver.htm

So you have the second, a "complimentary OpenURL account" ? I'll have to fix
Tellico to accept that. It won't work right now.

Sorry about that.

Robby

Hi,

First, thanks for tellico, I've been using it for a few years and like it a
lot.

As I like it a lot, I decided to extend it's usage from my movies collection
to another kind of collection :
I'm trying to use tellico to index a bunch of cds and dvds.

Loading and saving is reasonably fast for what I'm doing (around 100,000
files on a few tens of cds and dvds).

The problem is with the indexation itself :

To add a new set of files, I put a dvd in the machine, then
File/Import/Import File Listing

Indexation itself is quite fast too (around 20 seconds), no complain here
either :)

The problem is that usually volume name isn't what I would have liked. So I
then have to selects all new files, and edit them, then set the new volume
name. And then saving the volume name for 1000 entries takes around 3 to
5 minutes (on an intel Core 2 quad?)

I understand that it must be a corner case, but except for this little detail,
tellico is perfectly suitable for maintaining 100,000 files in a collection.

Another nice option would be to be able to specify the volume name when adding
a set of files.

What do you think ?
