Anyone out there?

Hey,

To anyone still listening to emails on kde-science:

A few of us were discussing KDE and science at Akademy, so we'll be looking to 
get this active again - seems like no one has posted since 2005. I guess that 
also means no one will mind if we change the direction a little.

If you'e an admin on the list, please get in touch - it would be useful to 
know who you are.

Hehe, the zombie list rises from the dead :-)

Well, I haven't had a chance to go through the archives to see what used to be 
discussed here. But we got a few people together at Akademy who are interested 
in Science and KDE and came up with a few short term plans:
- Set up a subforum on forum.kde.org for scientists and science apps (created, 
not yet publicised)
- Set up a mailing list (low traffic, coordination only - chat is for forum) - 
we didn't know at the time that this list already existed
- Have a webpage somewhere that summarises KDE applications of use in science.

That last point needs discussing a few places. I've sent similar info to the 
Edu list, still need to talk to the other promo peeps and web people.

I'm away for a couple of weeks after this week so it will probably be mid 
August before we really get going.

Hi Stuart & Co,

Just saying hello. I was at the KDE Science meeting and am interested (though 
as is usual in the Open Source world, not sure of how much time I have to 
commit).

My main contribution would be to try and use my Qt on Rails project to quickly 
build KDE science apps that hit RESTful web services such as bioinformatics 
sites. But I look forward to seeing what crops up in this list and in the KDE 
science space with interest.
