Libical: Increasing Minimum Version Requirement

Howdy,

For trunk, I plan to increase the minimum version requirement
for the Libcal package from 0.33 to 0.42. Else the kdepimlibs
module will no longer build for you.

If your distribution does not provide version 0.42 (or higher)
then you will need to install it yourself from source, which can
be found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/freeassociation
(or ask you distribution to upgrade this package).

Note that you can tell the KDE buildsystem where your self-built
libical is installed by using the LIBICAL_BASE environment variable,
for example: export LIBICAL_BASE=/usr/local

I'll make this change on Monday 16 Feb.

Regards,
Allen, KDEPIM Module Coordinator

KDE 4.2.x point releases plans?

Hi!

At the same time the schedule for 4.3 is fixed, what are the plans for the
revision released of 4.2?

Or more generic:
$ export CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=/home/alex/my_self_built_stuff
$ cmake ...

Given that almost two weeks after KDE 4.2.0 are passed, it would be nice to
schedule at least 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 to plan testing of fixes on the branch (and
potential backport of tested semi-fixes in the branch).

Ok, here's a proposal:

Wed Feb 25th, 2009: Tag KDE 4.2.1
Wed Mar 4th, 2009: Release KDE 4.2.1

Wed Mar 25th, 2009: Tag KDE 4.2.2
Wed Apr 1st, 2009: Release KDE 4.2.2

Let me know if it's ok and I'll put it on the TechBase schedule.

I know, it's a stupid thing, but perhaps April 2nd is better?

Looks fine to me either way.

Thanks

Is trunk dependant of Qt 4.5 or not, as of now?

Hi,

I am confused if it is okay to add Qt4.5-dependant code to trunk, without an
ifdef. What is the official policy? Is there one? There should be. I have no
opinion in this regard, so I don't request the one or the other, just a need
for clarity :)

The update of qt-copy to Qt 4.5 could be understood as "depending on 4.5 now",
but that was done without any official notice to the simple developers as I
am (at least it passed me without notice), so I don't know about the complete
scope of that change.

Could there please be an official announcement for the developers in trunk?
And, if I may wish, it would be nice if such changes could be scheduled and
announced in the future, so everyone can prepare and isn't catched by
surprise.
Like Alex so nicely warns^Winforms about CMake dependancy changes :)

Which are the official communication channels today, perhaps I just listen on
the wrong ones?

Thanks
Friedrich
