hi, hmm.
I found that KDE 4.1.3 wouldn't be compiled with gcc < 4.1.2.
The errors were like such errors in BUG #162084.
[#quoted: gcc < 4.1.2 does not follow the C++ standard for nested classes.]

Release Goals

Howdy,

Here are the Release Goals for 4.2.
Please send me an update on them:  keep;  remove; move to 4.3 Goals
Also, please send me any 4.3 Goals that you have.

* KDevelop and KDevplatform modules
^^ late, but will sorta be part of 4.2.  right?

* Decibel VOIP and real-time communication framework

* Plasmagik plasma packages and add-on creator

* More polished Kopete
^^ looks done to me

^^^ Move to 4.3 goals

* Eigen 2 in kdesupport, use it in edu/office/games
^^ done, right?

To make it clear: Plan is to release beta1 with KDE 4.2.0, most probably a
beta2 with 4.2.1 and if all goes well then 1 or 2 rc's and a final release
somewhere around 4.2.3 or 4.2.4.

keep, i think. Other people are more knowledgeable about this than I am 
though. Note that nothing in a KDE/* module uses Decibel yet, that i'm aware 
of.

move to 4.3 Goals. The polish comes from an model-based contact list and 
some better graphics. We have fixed quite a few bugs though.

Release Goals as in "unclear items"?

I'm planning, as part of my "prep 4.2 release" to go through the feature list 
and make it a list that makes sense to also non-KDE developers, condense some 
features and extract the more important ones.

This partly as a note so we don't end up duplicating work.

The style is still somewhat buggy, and everything's a bit too much packed 
(that's why I haven't gone public yet), but don't forget:
http://plasma.kde.org/docs/CHANGELOG.html

and the other files in docs/.

Putting up that system for plasma took me ~30 minutes, and it'll be really 
simple to port that to other projects that might need it. (the files are taken 
from SVN)
