See nmcheck in kde3's admin directory. It was somewhat integrated into am_edit,
someone needs to port that to a separate shellscript so that we can use it in kde4.

This change was reverted and there is a new kdegraphics tarball now, but there
is another soname bump else in libkexiv2 (6->7). So?

As discussed before: it is not that anywone would not trust Allen Winter. It
is merely that the way the restriction is enforced is not secure, and that we
already had the restriction bypassed by exactly that method.

Dirk

I'll revert that one as well.

konsole resizes annoyingly ;) Show stopper?

I personally find this a showstopper, so I thought I should at least give you
guys a heads up;

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172042

I 'fixed' this bug locally like this

Index: apps/konsole/src/MainWindow.cpp
===================================================================
--- apps/konsole/src/MainWindow.cpp     (revision 866514)
+++ apps/konsole/src/MainWindow.cpp     (working copy)

     correctShortcuts();

     // enable save and restore of window size
-    setAutoSaveSettings("MainWindow",true);
+//    setAutoSaveSettings("MainWindow",true);
 }
 void MainWindow::removeMenuAccelerators()
 {

Cheers!

So, are you posting the proposal, or should I just go ahead and do it, and then we would just announce it?
I don't think we need more bikeshedding on the naming of the tags ;-)

Showstopper in 4.1.2

The bug that is fixed by the commit below, is being reported by tons of users.
A lot of things in KDE doesn't work for them, since kded crashes on startup
due to a wrong assert.

I suggest:
- that all packagers who still can, should include the patch below in updated 4.1.2 packages
- that we make a 4.1.3 *soon*

Fix those kdedglobalaccel crashes. It's not safe to assume the config file
has a correct content. Somehow it get's messed up sometimes and contains
something like this:

  nextTrack=Meta+B,Meta+B,

I guess we need a volunteer then, at least until Matt resurfaces.

Any takers?

Fwd: Polishing kdeartwork

figured out that this can be interesting for people here too.

Subject: Polishing kdeartwork
Date: Thursday 16 October 2008
From: Riccardo Iaconelli <riccardo <at> kay dee e.org>
To: kde-artists <at> kde.org

Hello,
I'd like to polish a bit the status of the kdeartwork module. Right now it's
just a dumping ground for all the stuff that we felt bad to just svn rm, and I
think that instead it should be a collection of valuable (and up-to-date)
additional artwork shipped with KDE.

(proposed) plan of action:

- create extragear/kdeclassic, where all the old stuff can be put. This
includes e.g. the old icon themes, the wallpapers, and all the stuff that just
became obsolete or not good enough to compete with the new KDE 4 standards.

- populate kdeartwork with renewed and improved content, styles for KDE 4,
more good wallpapers that we can't put in kdebase, maybe launch a little
contest for styles-windecos (we're lacking good ones here).
Then, move some wallpapers from kdebase to kdeartwork (reducing the number in
kdebase to 5) import additional colors of the cursor theme, and other similar
things...
