Extragear KDE 4 stable branch
Today i've been discussing with KTorrent maintainer the need for a KDE 4 extragear stable branch. And the outcome is that we need it. Reasons: * He already has a stable and trunk branch (branches/ktorrent/3.1/) vs (trunk/extragear/network/ktorrent) * He is shipping trunk/l10n-kde4 translations with the code in branches/ktorrent/3.1/ That is very dangerous l10n wise, because in the moment he removes any string from trunk/extragear/network/ktorrent that was used in the stable branch, that string will appear untranslated in the next 3.1.x release That is why i'm asking to create a branches/stable/extragear-kde4/ where we can put things in the same way we do with trunk/extragear so we can point the translation scripts from the stable branch to that location. Any comment? Albert

You probably expected this question, I'm going to ask anyway...What's wrong with /branches/stables/extragear/ ? Toma

In that case that folder can be renamed to extragear-kde3 and recreate the extragear folder. To me this would be a no-brainer. Best. Toma

Yep, expected too.
Just rename folder and done.
Why complicate ?

To me this would be a no-brainer. Well, i'm both fine with branches/stable/extragear-kde3 branches/stable/extragear-kde4 or branches/stable/extragear branches/stable/extragear-kde4 or branches/stable/extragear-kde3 branches/stable/extragear BUT i think the second one would fit more with what we currently have branches/stable/l10n -> kde3 branches/stable/l10n-kde4 -> kde4 There's no need in invalidating everyone's already checked out paths. Hi, On Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 6:53 PM, Sebastian Kügler <sebas@...> wrote: > Sounds significant to me. I'm all for a 3.5.10 in August, as I said before. Not sure if I have missed it somewhere so I am asking, is the date for 3.5.10 finalised yet? Mid August is just around when aKademy ends. So can I safely assume that the tagging will happen after akademy or during akademy? I am trying to reduce the diff between enterprise and kdepim a little more, subject to restrictions of course. But I was wondering how much time do I have. Thanks. Cheers! Schedules page for extragear modules
Hi, at the translation team we have a problem that translators never know which branch they have to translate for extragear applications because actually we have stable and trunk for KDE3 and stable and trunk for KDE4 so for example for konversation next release is kde3 trunk based but for amarok is kde4 trunk based and for ktorrent is kde4 stable So it would be cool if extragear maintainers would write in that page in which page their new release will be.
