private wiki access

Hi,

We are working on finding alternative hosting for the wiki and have a
couple of leads so far. Luci will be sending a mail and probably will
be posting a request on the dot when he gets to it.

If you know of any hosting offers already, let us know.

In the meantime if you need private access to the wiki, please drop me
an email.

Thanks,
Navin.

aLANtejo 2005

Hi,

I'm a member of the Computer Science Students Association (NEEI) from
the University of Evora and we're organizing a congress on Information
Technologies, where the 3rd day is dedicated to linux. We would like to
have the presence of Kde oficial representatives for a conference better
in the attachment. I already e-mailed the oficial kde-europe contact
from the event's email address (alantejo at neei dot uevora dot pt), but
got no response. Who should I contact to participate in the event?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Bruno Teixeira

Hi Rainer,

I'm working on it. Can you wait until wednesday?
I have quite a lot work to do at the moment. I will send it to this list
then.

Cheers,

about Qt installation

Hello all!
I've a problem with installation of qt-3.3.4 port on my KDE-3.3.2.
Operation system - FreeBSD-5.3 Stable.
After adding port by operation "pkg_add qt-3.3.4.tgz" all other ports
depending on qt are normally installed. And everything is ok until I
intend to run compilation of my project on KDevelop. After few steps of
compilation, it says: qt not found (qt-mt). But I add to my profile
the necessary ways ($QTDIR, $LD_LIBRARY_PATH etc), but nothing
changes. Also the attempts of source compilation have been made. In this
case, KDevelop has found these variables, but the problems with qt plugins occured.
Tell me, please, what I have to do? And which situation is more
preferable - either I must install port of qt, or make the source of
it? And what shall I do with KDevelop?
Thanx alot.

I guess this is the wrong list for this question :) kde-devel would be the
correct list for this question.

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and say the
opposite.

Hi,

so these are the features I got so far (I am sorry I have not put them in
any order yet):

 * KDE Text-to-Speech System (ktts)
 * KSayIt for reading longer texts
 * Speech synthesis support in Konqueror, Kate and KPDF
 * KPDF now supports PDF 1.5, password protected PDFs and the extraction of
pictures and text from PDF files
 * Completely redesigned, more flexible trash system.
 * Kontact support for various groupware servers, including eGroupware,
        GroupWise, Kolab, OpenGroupware.org and SLOX.
 * Better synchronization between 2 PCs
 * Kopete supports Novell Groupwise and Lotus Sametime

Just a few wording suggestions... at the moment some of these are a bit
obscure. Apologies for not suggesting these before.

What about putting these into one bigger point, such as:

* Text-to-speech system with support built into Konqueror, Kate and KPDF and
standalone application KSayIt

> * KPDF now supports PDF 1.5, password protected PDFs and the extraction of
> pictures and text from PDF files

These are IMO the wrong way around. The latter points are the most important.
I'd suggest:

- KPDF now enables you to select, copy and paste text & images from PDFs,
along with many other interface improvements. It also supports password
protected documents and the PDF standard version 1.5

> * Support for album covers in JuK

What does this mean? I'd suggest:

Umbrello UML Modeller has Entity Relationship Diagram support (don't
know of any other program which does similar and I get asked for it a
lot).

It doesn't. You have to explicitly ask it to download the covers.
