Re: KDE-india Digest, Vol 37, Issue 1

hi,
first of all ,, welcome kashyap :)

QT as LGPL , IMHO , i think it would be kinda counter - productive in long run ..i mean now there is really no legal pressure on companies like apple to open source their changes to code. though to tell a truth i need to study more about LGPL to be sure of it's clauses .

though i have kind of mixed bag of feeling towards this issue :) because for sure this will increase acceptance of qt in other domains .

Re: knetworkmanager NOT WORKING !!!

I too had the same problem with kNetworkManager in kubuntu 8.10. The steps i perform are (on each startup) -

ifconfig eth0 172.32.5.7 netmask 255.255.0.0 up
route add default gw 172.32.0.11 eth0

Then enter the following in the file /etc/resolv.conf -

# Generated by NetworkManager
nameserver 172.40.4.2
nameserver 202.144.95.4

This works for me, though kNetworkManager shows me offline, and i have to uncheck File>Work offline for internet to work.

Re: knetworkmanager NOT WORKING !!!

Is NetworkManager installed and running while knetworkmanager is started ?

Re: knetworkmanager NOT WORKING !!!

You can manually set your network in /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/resolv.conf . That is what I usually do. I beleive there was some issue with knetworkmanager on kubuntu a while ago, but I think I was told it was fixed.
