about PPPoE GUI

Hello,
I installed KDE 3.5.1 in FreeBSD 6.1 but it didn't include a PPPoE
GUI. The KPPP just can dial via a modem. Could u tell me how can I
make PPPoE work in KDE? Thanks!

Best regards,

Benny Au

CUPS installation/configuration

Hi!

I've a problem regarding CUPS and KDE. I've just upgraded to KDE 3.5.3 and
again (as so many times before), I've problems using/configuring cups in
KDE's control center. When I select 'Restart Server' the control center
complains about the symbol "restartServer" not found in the cupsdconf.so.

What helps is to replace the /usr/local/lib/kde3/cupsdconf.so library with a
link to /usr/local/lib/libkdeinit_cupsdconf.so.

Now I'd like to know, if I did something wrong when installing KDE and CUPS?
Shouldn't that link be automatically set up? Did I miss something?

Many thanks,
Christian.

There is a page for PPPoE and FreeBSD in the handbook, on your computer
(if you installed the docs)
at /usr/share/doc/en/books/handbook/pppoe.html, or online at
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/pppoe.html

I don't know of any GUI tool to set up PPPoE, but undoubtedly there has
to be one somewhere. But since this is a process you only have to do
once, the lack of a GUI isn't too onerous a burden.

Konsole keyboard settings

These days, Konsole has a FreeBSD setting for the keyboard, but, at least on
my system, it doesn't really work very well. It's the Delete, Home and End
keys that are problematic.
I use csh and have the default bindkey entries in my .cshrc:
	bindkey "^W" backward-delete-word
	bindkey -k up history-search-backward
             bindkey -k down history-search-forward
though removing them doesn't seem to make any difference.
My /etc/ttys has xterm as the terminal type on ttyv8.

Delete doesn't work at the command prompt (just gives a ~), though it does
forward-delete in ee.
Home & End don't work at the command prompt or in ee.

If I set the keyboard to XTerm (XFree 4.x), the situation is partly reversed :
Home & End keys work at the command line but not in ee
Delete doesn't work at the command prompt but does in ee

Is the FreeBSD setting supposed to make those keys work correctly in konsole
or does it still require modifications to xmodmap or something?

Cheers,
