new port:qt mysql-plugin (next try/new version)

Hello everybody,

I posted once a port for the mysql-plugin and asked for help. There were
some issues I wanted to discuss with somebody more involved in
KDE/QT-port infrastructure. Most recent problem was, that I wasn't able
to use USE_QT_VER variable. Now I have a new version of the port, which
is somehow more a slave-port than the first version was, but I had to do
some modification in the original qt3-port. So it would be very nice if
you could tell me what you think of it.
One thing I have to mention is that portlint gives one error, because I
did not set PORTVERSION. I did not do this because I want to use
qt31-version setting. Don't know if this is not allowed at all, but I
think this way I do not need to change it every time qt31-port-version
changes.

I put shar-file of qt-mysql-plugin and diff for qt3 on my homepage:

http://home.arcor.de/kay_lehmann/freebsd/ports/not_published/qt-mysql-plugin.shar.slave
http://home.arcor.de/kay_lehmann/freebsd/ports/not_published/qt31_Makefile.diff

So it would be nice if someone could take a look at it and make some
suggestions what to do better.
Thanks and greetings,
Kay

Konqueror loading some webpages very slowly

FreeBSD 4.8 STABLE
Konqueror 3.1.2
qt-3.1.2_1
javavmwrapper-1.4
jbigkit-1.4
jdk-1.4.1p3_3

Hi:

Konqueror loads these webpages very slowly:

http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/siliconvalley/6237239.htm
and
http://www.theregister.co.uk/

It takes about 8-10 minutes to load these. Anyone else having this problem? If
so, how did you fix it?

					Kind regards

Please review my patch for Kooka port

Hi:

If one of the Kde ports maintainers would be kind enough to review my patch
and commit it, I would appreciate it.

On 4.7 with 3.1.2-1.......

Tried "theregister.co.uk" and progress bar went to 99% immediately and
hung. I tried Mozilla and all was OK.

On the Silicon Valley site, neither browser woud work. I see from
their code that they only expect IE, Netscape or "Mac".

And, on a very similar system, 4-STABLE, 3.1.2 from CVS, homebrew, no java at
all,

Even on dialup, theregister loads in about 10 seconds; the progress bar jumps
around a lot. Will suggested that it might be a hosts thing related to the
ads the register runs.

Now, silicon valley loads in about 15 seconds (ugh, I hate ads disguised as
windows 98 windows).

Thanks Jim and Adriaan:

I was just curious if this was a bug or a website related issue. I see that
it is really related to the type of website I visit.

This is becoming a FAQ ... look at
https://lists.csociety.org/pipermail/kde-freebsd/2003-May/004830.html
and followups.

FreeBSD ports: 1 unfetchable distfiles: x11-wm/mosfet-liquid,x11-wm/mosfet-liquid

Dear kde <at> freebsd.org,

You are listed as the FreeBSD port maintainer for 1 ports
whose distfiles [or main web pages] are not fetchable from their
MASTER_SITES. Could you please visit

http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/kde <at> freebsd.org.html

and correct the problems listed there? The individual ports with
problems are x11-wm/mosfet-liquid,x11-wm/mosfet-liquid.

Note that the main port web page, as listed in the WWW: line
of the pkg-descr, is checked just as though it was a port distfile.
This is an unfortunate side effect of the architecture of the distfile
survey reporting tool, but if you see a distfile being reported as
not fetchable that's not actually a distfile, see if it's from the
pkg-descr.

If you have already corrected the problems and submitted a
PR, please accept my thanks and apologies for the delay in getting the
fixes into the tree. This reminder is created automatically and does
not (yet) have a way to know if a PR fixing the problem has been
submitted. Please do *NOT* send your response to me directly; I do
not always have time to commit your fix; please instead submit a PR
via 'send-pr' so it doesn't get lost.

Problems are usually of two types:
1. The software package has been upgraded and the version in the
port has been removed. The best solution to this problem is to
upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package.
