: Wiktionary data for Parley

Hi,

a happy new year to all - we have quite some new data over here and I am preparing it bit by bit.

For now Wiktionary data. Further info and a short article here:

http://www.voxhumanitatis.org/content/unlocking-free-data-parley-%E2%80%93-wiktionary-press-release

I don't have much online time these days. This will be better in a week.

Cheers,

Sabine

: Rsobotic Simulation game mentor request

Hi all,

We are a group of 4 BTech final year students of computer science and engineering, Kerala , India. We are developing a a robotic simulator wrapped with a game. We have registered the project under GPL and hosted in sourceforge this is our project page https://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualrobo/

We request if some is ready to mentor our project , please do contact us through sourceforge or through direct mail if some one is interested. here is the request we had put in sourceforge..

"
In the project which is a game/robotic simulator, the user can create a circuit for robot and simulate the robot to a virtual world where he can compete his robot with other robots to clear the levels in the virtual world game. the user is indented to create wheeled robots.

We would like to see if some one who has enough experience ready to guide us in this project. The main areas where we seek advisor/mentor are.

1) Circuit simulation

2) Game development

Some documentations over the design of the project is ready.

We will start hte coding of the project from 24th of this month ( 24/01/'10) and like to release atleast the first beta version of the game by theend of june 2010.

If interested ones contact us through email as soon as possible , we can have detailed chat about the project and start coding from the above said time."

Regards

Hi,

Are you planning on developing it with KDE librairies?

Re: : Rsobotic Simulation game mentor request

Yes for sure we are ready to develope the game under kde.

We have been contacting the local schools for some time and have found that the game will be very much usefull in the educational field as the linux distribution provided by our government to the schools lack such a game. and will will be intended to the higher secondary and echnical higher secondary school level students.

I ahve send a mail to the kde-edu and kde-game mailing lists regarding the project, with subject ' VirtualRobo a new educational game'

I'm taking this project under my wing, it's good to see something like this =)

: January IRC meeting

Heya folks :)

with the planning for the sprint being on its way we should probably
have a meeting to discuss agenda and stuff. Steph was so kind to sort
the survey results. I'll look into that next and distribute them.
(Thanks a bunch, Steph!). That could also be a topic for meeting. Part
of the survey answers need to be turned into junior jobs in bugzilla.
Justin made a Marble video and we should come up with ideas for
another promo video for him or someone else.

http://www.doodle.com/4qkyqihyy6h6icph has the poll. It will be open
until Sunday. Please pay attention to time zone.

Cheers
Lydia

: survey results

Heya :)

finally got around to checking the results after Steph was so kind to
sort them by program.
http://lydiapintscher.de/tmp/KDE-EduSurvey.ods is the resulting
spreadsheet. There is something for everyone ;-)

Let me know which of those could potentially be turned into junior
jobs. (If you don't want to file them yourself I'll try to find
someone but let me know either way.)

If you want access to the raw results with answers to all questions
ping me as well. I can give you access but for obvious reasons I can't
share them with everyone and/or unknown people.

Cheers and I hope those are useful for you

: proposal - move to git as soon as 4.4 is out.

I'm planning to move rocs to gitorious when 4.4 is out, this will
simplify a few things for me. I wonder if the whole kde-edu can be
moved there without much hassle, we already have some big apps on
gitorious like amarok, gluon and of course, qt itself.

I didn't see much talk about gitting kde on the -devel list, so I
think it's a module decision at this time.

There is a mailinglist dedicated to git:

    http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-scm-interest

(Almost) all discussion happens there.

About your question: I would be in favour of it.
