: Look over fences: AbulEdu

Dear KDE-Edu developers,

at Malaga, the wish was uttered to get ideas for new applications.

Well, for those who read French and/or Tcl/Tk, the AbulEdu applications
could be interesting (1).

Most of them are only in French so far (however internationalisation has
been started). And most of the applications seem to be written in Tcl.
Maybe some of you know a way to "konvert" the code (to Qt this is).

Have a look at

Instead that now everybody is surfing to their page and tries to understand
French it would be a great help if you could describe the purpose of the app
in some sentences...

Hi,

in some way you are right. But I don't know French, either. This is why
I said "for those of you who read French".

I started testing the software - and meanwhile learned, that the
"upstream" (Eric Seigne) is still somehow active. I meant to document
the software in German (1) - but maybe I should go for English in the
beginning.

Maybe the best way (for those of you who use Debian) would be to install
the whole let and try it out:

I just found out that the educative software suite "Le Terrier" from
abuledu.org is apt-get installable from

deb http://ftp.abuledu.org/1.4/leterrier ./

After updating, you should find all available packages by searching for
"abuledu":

$ apt-cache search abuledu

abuledu-aller - Aller, Apprentissage de la lecture en réseau

[kde-edu]: LinuxInfoTag Dresden

Hello List

At the end of this month, October 29, there will be a Linux-Conference in
Dresden, north germany, called LinuxInfoTag [1]. As you might allready know I
will be present there and kdeedu will be a big topic there [2].
Promotion is everything today ;-) Therefore I ask all application developers
for three things:

* Update your homepage
 ** Especially pages like http://edu.kde.org/kstars/screenshots.php are
important as visitors of the booth might want to look at screenshots when
they are back home

* Update your changelog
 ** http://edu.kde.org/development/3.5improvements.php

* Create a klik-package
 ** This page shows you existing klik-packages:
      http://134.169.172.48/
  ** This is the howto create a klik-package:
     http://134.169.172.48/docs/?page=A%20note%20to%20application%20developers

If you cannot write on the edu.kde.org-homepage because you are missing the
karma feel free to sent me either a diff or just a plaintext-version and I
will commit for you.

Carsten

Well. north or south is always a matter of perspective. Even though
Dresden is further north than, say, Munich, it is definitely very far
to the east (to find a compromise) - about 1 hour drive from Prague!

This might be interesting to people from Czech Republic or Slovakia.

For further info, browse "wp:Dresden"...

Ralf.

http://kgeography.berlios.de/ is quite updated, it may be ugly, but ei, i made
it...
http://edu.kde.org/blinken/ can be considered uber small, but you really don't
think we need much more than the screenshot and that description

There's no blinken klik but there's http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/1484
which has full kdeedu3.5 package

: Question about Kig scripting

Hi.

I plan to use Kig in a course of linear geometry i am teaching. I hev found
most of the features i need in it, but i have a little trouble to calculate
the ration determined by three points in a line.

I have done a scirpt that returns a point whose coordinates are (r,0), where r
is the number i am looking for, and then take the x coordinate of it, but the
problems is that, as i move the points, this resulting point moves too, and
also does the label with its x coordinate, making it go outside the screen in
some cases.

So my question would be: is there a way of creating a script that gives a
result a text label? Or otherways: is there a way to make the text label
corresponding to a point remain fixed?

Thanks in advance.

You can make the text label fixed by right-clicking on it, then select "redefine",
click on any place on the canvas and then accept all the defaults.

Also, it is possible to create a fixed label from the beginning:
- click on the "text" button
- click anywhere on the screen
- enter "%1" (without the double quotes) as text
- click on "next"
- click on "argument 1"
- click on the point whose coordinate you need
- click on "X coordinate"
- click on "Finish".
