so the function is defined and is visible. i'm still suspecting a broken
linker. see if you have updates for the compiler available.

Digikam failed to connect to camera, even as root - but Gphoto2 works, even as user!

Dear list,

Digikam used to work fine for me for several months now, but since I made a
couple of updates in my gentoo system, I receive the following error message:

Failed to connect to camera. Please make sure its connected properly and
turned on. Would you like to try again?

I get this even when I'm logged in as root. On the other hand, I can access
the camera even as a normal user with the gphoto2 command line program. I
tried with 0.7.1 and 0.7.4. Strange thing is that digikam used to work
before.
Anyone got a clue?

Re: Digikam failed to connect to camera, even as root - but Gphoto2 works, even as user!

Thank you for your idea, Renchi. My camera is a Ricoh Caplio G4 wide
I looked at my ~/.kde/share/apps/digikam/cameras.xml and saw that the path
given there and shown in digikam's settings didn't match. I let digikam
rediscover the camera, and now those two match. I can now download images
from the camera, but there is no thombnail preview in the camera window.
The contents of the file are

<!DOCTYPE XMLCameraList>
<cameralist client="digikam" version="1.0" >
 <item port="usb:" title="Ricoh Caplio G4" model="Ricoh Caplio G4" path="/" />
</cameralist>

slideshow?

Hi,

I liked the way the slideshow worked in 0.7.3 but I cannot even find it
in the present svn version of digikam. Why is that? I can open a bunch
of images separately in showfoto (but I cannot start showfoto from
digikam?)

Is there any way to get to the fancy slideshows as before? Effects,
opengl? I guess it is part of the kipi plugins but I do not see any way
to activate it.

Thanks

Tamas

digikam 0.8.0-beta1 / casio EZ40 / USB / PTP-Camera interface

Dear listmembers,
some observations I made you're probably interested in:
1.) when accessing the camera and downloading pictures in the camera
dialogue*, there is no "move" mode. I always have to download and then delete
in the camera. You easily get unsure whether you readily downloaded a picture
or you didn't. I normally do not want to keep the pictures in the camera, I
want them in my folder-structure instead.
2.) I cannot "drag & drop" pictures by clicking (or whatsoever) on them in the
camera dialogue and move them to above an appropriate folder on the main
window I would like them to reside.
3.) I noticed an instability: after moving the first picture to a folder and
deleting it within digicam, digicam freezes when trying to download the next
picture (unit per unit, right mouse klick, download, after finish-> delete).
Kill program, restart it your're fine until the overnext download attempt.
4.) when accidentally creating a folder from within the camera dialogue as a
subfolder (what wasn't intended probably) I cannot move it say one level
higher in the folder hierarchy from within the camera dialogue, I have to
quit the camera dialogue first to move it from within the main window.
5.) when downloading pictures from within the camera dialogue picture by
picture digicam does not remember to which folder I downloaded last, it
remembers the last accessed folder from the main window instead. Usually I
have a set of pictures "logically" coupled, so I would expect that in many
cases one would like to put several of them one after another into the same
folder.

(3) is actually an issue, the other one's are convenience type of things.
Let me know if I can be of any help regarding debugging things,
thanks for a great program!
Take care

Photo stitching in Digikam

Dear list,

Is there a photo stitching plugin for Digikam? I am considering banishing
Windoze from my home, so this is one of the last bits for which I need to
boot to the dreaded OS.

Thanks in advance,

Sava
