Printing wizard vs. normal print

Hello all. I had a previous problem with print quality
(http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=7116073&forum_id=32899)
but it has been semi-resolved. Pictures were printing out with poor
resolution, not using the printer's settings. I recompiled the
kipi-plugins package, editing a source file (frmprintwizard.cpp) to
always print with high resolution. I also noticed that this issue was
supposed to be resolved, and that digikam was supposed to always print
with the printer's resolution, and other settings.

Now, the printing wizard either prints with the printer's settings, or
at least high enough that I can't notice a difference. However, for
some reason, using the "normal" print function still gives poor
resolution, and places the picture in the middle of a 4x6 sheet,
oriented the wrong way. It does this even if I set everything correctly
in the print dialog every try.

Am I missing something? Do I need to do something to force all printing
in digikam to use the printer's settings? I'm using gutenprint-beta3
(formerly gimp-print) to drive my Epson Stylus CX6600. The printer is
set up properly in CUPS (using the CUPS web interface; do I need to do
something in KPrinter?) and prints via other apps fine. I'm using
digikam-0.72, libkipi-0.1.1, and kipi-plugins-0.1.0-beta2.

CD Archive Problems

I am using digikam on a mandrake box.

I am trying to use the Archive to CD function. I managed to use it once
successfully but since it has not worked.

As the dialogue box scrolls by, it tells me, for each image "Failed to
create thumbnail for IMG....

Pressing ahead anyway, it fires up k3b, a program that I use
successfully in other ways, but then it puts in the list of files to be
burned all of my hard drive. I tried removing the entries for the main
part of the hard drive leaving those which seemed to be the ones I
wanted but that left only a small part of the size of image that these
photos would be (280k instead of 80m).

Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

GmailAgent new release

Hi, as GmailAgent exists because I want to connect digikam to Gmail I'll be
so blunt to announce the 0.4 release of it on this list.:-)
This release is a major enhancement over the prior "proof-of-concept" release.

GmailAgent is a application that acts as a email client and can be
used by programs
like digikam and others to provide email access to a Gmail account.

This release features a major code cleanup and much more sanity checks.
It's now fully compliant with the latest kipiplugins and comes with a
install script.
This version packs a address book with all the features one expects
like automatic
address addition when sending a message, editable addresses and
selecting multiple
addresses as recipients.

MPEG Encoder plugin suggestions

Hi,

I like the MPEG Encoder in Digikam, but I have a few thoughts on how it could
be more useful

1. It would be nice if you could have the image comments put onto the images
in the .mpg file that is output

2. It would be nice if you could have a 'random' transition type used for
each image

3. It would be nice if you could put multiple audio files in a list, to be
played along with the slideshow...

Maybe you can do these things already, but it is not apparent. I would be
interested in helping to develop these things, but I have no idea how to
begin.

Thanks,
Sean

Easy, learning imagemagick to put comment in image. Learning the core bash
script of the plugin Adapt the script and the gui in according.

Not easy to do and request fast CPU or/and a new external tool.

Need to create a new tool in GUI. Long task.

Not yet, I'm currently working on digikamimageplugins...
