None of mine do. When I choose a folder where there is a movie (always
an MPEG from my cybershot), I hear the harddisk crunching for a while,
then I get a general movie icon.

I've done that, put the max. file size to the maximum (100Mb, bigger
than the biggest - 50mb - file I tried it with), selected all
protocols, and it stills show me no thumbnail whatsoever. Is it the
mpegs? Thanks.

do you have a sample file which you can email to me directly (not to the
list). btw, do the thumbnails show up in konqueror?

The thumbnails for just about any file format show up in konqueror
(jpg, djvu, rtf, etc.) *except* for video files. In Konqueror -> View
-> Preview, the option for video files doesn't even exist. The file
associations seem to be all ok (mpg to mplayer). And yes, I have a
sample file I can send you. The smallest is 6,7Mb. Do you take files
that large? If not, I can use <www.yousendit.com>.

looks like you don't seem to have the right file plugin installed. on my
debian system the following package provides it:
kdemultimedia-kfile-plugins

no need to send the file.

Digikam contest

Feburarys contest will be for DigiKams new Superimpose template. So I would
like it if everyone could try to get the latest version of DigiKam and start
getting familiar with it.

Here is some info I got from Gilles Caulier the manitainer of DigiKam...

We were thinking about having a few categories.

I've tried adjusting the filesize setting but Digikam still will not display
all of the avi thumbnails. Some will display, others won't, regardless of the
size.

Konqueror will not display the thumbnails either, just an icon substitute.

Yeap, I found that package on gentoo also and it is not installed
(actually, it can't be installed with my kde 3.3.2, I suppose). That
must be it, then. After 3.4 comes out I'll try to install it and get
back to you on that subject. Thanks!

nikon coolpix 5200

Digikam 0.7.1 does not list this but does show the 5000 and 5400. Does anyone
know if the 5200 is useable with digikam?

I ask cause I'm thinking about buying the 5200.

Thanks
