patch for (configurable) small icons in all sidebars

Next attempt, which follows your style guide and cleans up the code a bit more.

Your symptoms of match those that I saw with my Kodak V550 camera. Digikam would list the files, but there
were no thumbnail and was not able to download any files.

I tracked down a problem in the libgphoto2 code which caused the camera to hang when digikam tried to get the
exif data from an empty file. I developed a fix for this which Marcus committed into the libgphoto2 CVS a
couple of days ago. Perhaps you can give the CVS libgphoto2 code a go?

The selected thumbnail does appear as the album thumbnail within digikam; as expected. But if a HTML export
is done then the exported album does not have the selected thumbnail...

[Bug 115460] New: opening and closing right pane with tag filter also changes width of left pane and vv

------- You are receiving this mail because: -------
You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115460
Summary: opening and closing right pane with tag filter also
changes width of left pane and vv
           Product: digikam
           Version: 0.8.0-beta2
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: wbsoft xs4all nl

Version:           0.8.0-beta2 (using KDE 3.4.92 (beta2, >= 20051010), Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11-gentoo-r1

I have my digiKam configured to show the previews at their biggest size, in three columns. With the right
panel (Tag Filters) closed and the left panel opened at the right size, so the three columns of thumbnails
exactly fit in the middle of the screen.

Now, when I incidentally open the right pane, the middle view is shrinked to make space for the right pane. So
the middle view changes to two column. But the left pane also changes size (whish is completely
unnessecary, as the middle column now has two columns of thumbnails and a big empty space).

When I close the right pane again, the left pane becomes a bit wider than it originally was, so the thumbnails
(Continue reading)

Yes, I was going to report this as well. I think that a good solution is to not disable the + and - buttons while
autofit is enabled.

Then you can just zoom in instead of having to disable autofit first (which throws you at a 100% size which can
be very large due to todays camera's (my new one has 7mp)).

But the autofit should not switch off when zooming. (If autofit is on, paging to the next photo will display
it autofit again). The idea is thus that autofit is just a feature that kicks in on initial display of the
image (and on resize of the viewport), but that after displaying the image leaves the user free to zoom it in
or out without having to disable autofit first.

These are in fact two wishes.

I second the first one: zoom in to the center of the displayed part of the image, instead of top-left edge.

Re the second one, maybe the zoom level should increase with the same proportional step, instead of the same
fixed amount like it is now.

What about introducing this feature to konqueror's and the desktop's icon-view? Those views do also have
space around their icons/thumbnails which could be used as a selection area. Of course, having a frame
around an icon is more obvious to mediate the "click-here-to-select"-feature but this could be solved by
either displaying such a frame when hovering the icons, or changing the background around them when hovering.

Would that solve the single-/double-click problem for you Tom?

I filed it as a wishlist-item: bug 115461.

Thanks for implementing this!
