Hi,

Partial success.

Message extraction looks fine, no superfluous whitespace any more.

I have updated the language x-test and checked the translations.

Running KStras in locale x-test In the "Set Geographic Location" dialog therr
is displayed:

* entries with City, Province, Country:
only City and Province is translated, but not Country

* entries with only City and Country, but no Province:
  no translation

Message extraction bugs in KStars

Hi,

this is a list of user visible strings, which are not extracted to any
translation catalog:

source files with i18n calls, but not in message templates:
kstars/kstars/comast/comast.h with 1 strings
kstars/kstars/comast/equipmentwriter.cpp with 5 strings
kstars/kstars/comast/execute.cpp with 8 strings
kstars/kstars/comast/observeradd.cpp with 7 strings

missing strings in message templates:
kstars/kstars/comast/comast.h ['Overwrite']
kstars/kstars/comast/equipmentwriter.cpp ['Define Equipment', 'scope_',
'eyepiece_', 'lens_', 'filter_']
kstars/kstars/comast/execute.cpp ['Execute Session', 'End Session', 'Save and
End the current session', 'Next Page >', 'site_', 'session_', 'Next Target >',
'observation_']
kstars/kstars/comast/observeradd.cpp ['Add Observer', 'The Name field cannot
be empty', 'Invalid Input', 'Another Observer already exists with the given
Name and Surname, Overwrite?', 'observer_', 'Could not save the observer list
to the file', 'Write Error!']

missing ui/rc/kcfg files with <string>/<text> in templates:
kdeedu/kstars/kstars/comast/equipmentwriter.ui
kdeedu/kstars/kstars/comast/execute.ui
kdeedu/kstars/kstars/comast/observeradd.ui

All entries are wrapped in the i18nc calls. If contexts are correct...

But "Kanada" and "Russland" are in german. Maybe "xx" marks untranslated
strings?

Just wondering shouldn't english spelling be used in Cities.dat?

BTW this entries looks like they refer to one city

Sigh...
Of course they are, I have a lot of languages installed here. But in this case
(kstars running in locale x-test) these strings are just accidently
translated.

The translation system (gettext) queries these catalogs in this order:
kdelibs/kdecore/localization/klocale.cpp:
// do not use insertCatalog here, that would already trigger
updateCatalogs
    catalogNames.append( mainCatalog ); // application catalog

// catalogs from which each application can draw translations

Re: KDE/kdeedu/kstars/kstars

It's problem problem with contexts. Should be fixed now.

It doesn't state this. Only that it's useful for identifying strings in your
application that are not translated but doesn't specify how.
