Re: kolab problems

I reinstalled LE2005 from scratch again,
The kolab build is still going on
but i saw GPM rpm exited with an error
so i opened /tmp/obmtool_gpm... in another console
and i saw it tries to build for x84_64
i do have an AMD64 3500+ processor in the system
(on an asus A8N-E sli and 2x512 mB kingston)
but i installed the regular i586 mandriva version
could this cause the problem ?
can i override the cpu detection somehow maybe?

Thanks already,
Lucy

Connectors for Outlook

Hi!

Where i can get a connector for outlook and kolab2. The only what i found is
toltec and konsec. Both sell it only, if i buy min 5 clients. But i don´t
need so much clients.
Maybe somebody have a idea or solution?

Thanks,

Buy 5 - if you want to use outlook as a client you will find no better
bargain anywhere.

Sorry, i forgot to sent the answer also to the mailinglist...

Thanks for the answer,

But this will be ca 70 USD for the toltec connector and/or for the konsec
250 Euro. And this for a private person who need 2 max 3 license is this a
lot of money.

It´s the only way...

if your budget is tight, consider using Linux/KDE/Kontact/Evolution etc.

What's even more important for me/us: As far as I can see it's the only
OSS solution that actively supports Linux desktop clients. From all I
could gather from the descriptions of other projects and my experience
with SLOX, most if not all other projects seem to focus primarily on
Outlook as a client. That's the main reason OX will not replace SLOX in
our company.

This comment is a bit late, but perhaps you've already found similar
information in the archives about online/offline IMAP:

If you don't need offline capabilities (i.e. take your mails on a notebook
around with you and sync from time to time), you can setup two accounts.
The DIMAP account in KMail/Kontact uses subscription to access only the
groupware folders. You can sync it automatically e.g. every 5 min to keep
your addressbook and calendar up to date.
An IMAP account in KMail/Kontact can be used to show all folders which can
be accessed like with Thunderbird or any other IMAP client. You will use
this primarily for the correspondence. So you avoid the duplication of
e-mail messages to your environment, while you profit from the groupware
support.

Unfortunately you cannot select the mode per folder, this is only a long
term goal in KMail. However, dealing with those two accounts in no problem
because of the nice provided by the Kontact application.

transferring build

Hi ,
i got an AMD64 3500+ , but i installed i586 mandriva le 2005
if i compile kolab 2 sources i get
misssrc : none
misspkg : GMP
misspkg : Clamav
According to the logging in /tmp
Clamav couldn't compile cause it needs GMP
and GMP didn't compile because to me it seems it
choose the wrong platform
in the logfiles i can clearly see that Obmtool tried to compile GMP for x86_64 and all other packages were compiled with i686.
In the kolab logfiles in /tmp i grep for "build system type"
all packages report build system type = i686 except for the
kolab_gmp...rebuild.log there is shows x86_64
I guess that is why GMP is not compiling.
Anybody knows how i can overrule this cpu detection for gmp?
I tried to built it myself with ./configure --build=i586
but i think the make install copies it to the wrong locations

Now i installed the mandriva on a box with an athlon xp 3000
downloaded sources again compiled them they built correctly there :-)
Can i just tar the /kolab folder in a tar file
burn to cd and restore on the server
and run bootstrap install on that system?
Or how do i distrubute this correct build to my server?

This does help:

at least they never asked Kolab-Konsortium during their
evaluation. I would also be interested in their decision criteria
and how they judged Kolab.
