What about using the kolab server as their smpt server,
this might solve the issue.

Kolab2 wants to offer some protection against 
other people forging email addresses.
So usually you need to insert email authenticated if it has
an internal email address. Another possibility is to make
that smpt server trusted (add it in the services tab).

Thanks for the reply.
I ended up using the kolab2 smtp server for these users. I did not want 
to enter the other smtp servers as trusted because I don't trust comcast 
and verizon!
Thus far, Kolab2 is running exceptionally well.

For full Kolab 2 features you require the Proko2 branch of the kdepim package.

I already read that somewhere. I just tried to build some debian packages from 
kde_3_3_branch with proko2 patches last weekend, but I didn't get it to work. 
The problem is, that I'm no developer, just someone who tries to validated 
some groupware solutions for internal use (and of course for selling to 
customers).

Yes, I know. I just wanted to tell that I hadn't the time to take a deeper 
look into the kontact integration...

FYI: Our customer uses a Debian Woody based KDE solution using a Proko2 
Kontact. I am mentioning this in order to assure you that it is doable though 
not trivial. Maybe you talk to some experienced KDE packager for Debian.

Our customers use the same on FreeBSD 4-STABLE and on 5.* and myself run it on 
6-CURRENT.

FreeBSD joins the club of doable systems :)

IMP Problems

Hi Guys,

For once I've actually managed to make some progress with Kolab.  I downloaded the Kolab RPMs from
Fruitsalad.org and installed them without problems. (Slackware 9.1 if anyone is curious)

Using a normal email client such as Mozilla Messenger I can create IMAP folders, send/receive email all
without any obvious errors.

Now for the problem.  I installed Horde from CVS following the instructions on the
Kolab.org/webclient.html page.  My first big problem is that when clicking on Mail to view mailboxes or to
create messages the Apache process spikes to 100% of the CPU and the error log gets filled with:

imap problem?

Hi!

I have just installed a fresh kolab ( version kolab-20040503-2.1.0 )
using zfos obmtool.. 

the installation goes really well and after finished i am able to access
admin interface and create/modify users, services etc etc

my problem is related to accesing kolab server using toltec connector..

when creating the connection the test part of toltec says that it is
unable to connect to imap4 server ...

i can see using tcpdumps ( sniffing the network ) how the client tryies
to connect, but no log appears on imapd logs at all ..

any clue? i guess my cyrus imapd server is not working propperly,, do i
need to touch any config file after the installation to make this work?

I'm sorry, but my httpd.conf.template is highly customied, I think a simple 
diff will not be useful... :-(
I simply put a

 Servername corp.wseurope.com

directive (literally), I don't know if there is a template macro for server 
FDQN... 

I'm planning to install a third server for testing in a few days, I will try 
to provide a patch.

BTW: kolab's apache seems to not use auth_ldap module for ldap authentication, 
can you tell me the name of the ldap authentication module?
