wiki

Hi guys,

the KOffice wiki doesn't work (wrong httpd.conf), and there's some text on there which I want to put in the KDE 4.0 beta 1 release announcement... Unless I can get it out of there today, I will have to write something again (which might be wrong and incomplete) so I'd love to see it come up again, or to hear from someone who can get info out of the database...

grtz

Jos

Install unstable KOffice

Hello,

There is a step by step guide to install KOffice unstable?
I'm learning QT in order to 'Kollaborate' with KOffice but I think I need
some "real world" applications to learn faster.

I'm really interested in collaborate in KSpread.

Easilty the best tutorial to get started is

http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Increased_Productivity_in_KDE4_with_Scripts

you will need the following subversion modules:

qt-copy
kdesupport
kdelibs
kdepimlibs
koffice

You will also need to to install quite a few development packages, but the
cmake scripts warn about those. From the top of my head: glpk, lcms,
boost-dev, the X11 dev packages. There will be a few more.

I'm sure our KSpread hackers would be very happy to have you helping them!

Why not? What errors do you get?

Re: koffice/kspread

I disabled it. Guilty as charged ;)
The 1.6 implementation used a couple of classes from koguiutil, like kword
and kpresenter did as well.
I created a completely new layout dialog in KWord because the data files
they manipulate have been extended and KWord got a lot of functionality
extra. And the old code didn't use ui files.

So, to avoid having 2 completely different dialogs and implementations the
goal is to;

1) find out why not all apps that can print have a page-layout dialog.
2) find out exactly which features present in the KWord dialog are needed
by the various other apps.
3) move the relevant code to the libs (i.e. split the kword part)
4) make the apps use it.

Any help is appreciated :)

Fwd: [office] Projity's OpenProj

Should be interesting for the KPlato developers.

---------- Forwarded Message ----------

Subject: [office] Projity's OpenProj
Date: Tuesday 07 August 2007
From: robert_weir <at> us.ibm.com
To: office <at> lists.oasis-open.org

News: Projit's MS Project clone moving to open source, talking with Sun
regarding possible move to OpenOffice.org.

The part that caught my interest was, "Projity plans to invest
"significant resources" into driving the creation of an open standards
document format for project management that would be an alternative to the
.mpp/.mpx formats used by Microsoft Project, and would eventually become a
subset of the OpenDocument Format natively used by OpenOffice and
StarOffice. "

So something to think about after ODF 1.2, perhaps adding project
management formats.

Color Selection Widget

Hello all,

I've been working on color selection widget in the last few days,
basically continuing what Casper Boemann has done. The color selection
widget will be popped out if the user clicks on the text color/text
background toolbar. And the color selection widget has an option to
change palette, add/remove colors to palette and save the palette.
I've created a simple dialog to do this (add/remove colors, change
palette, save palette, open palette from file), I think this dialog is
suitable for KWord/KPresenter/Kivio/KSpread for quickly edit the
palette. The screenshot of this dialog is on:

Is it ok to commit? Any comments?

Best Regards,
