These icons are much better. The only thing I would comment on is that the
32x32 icon against some backgrounds (particularly white or light grey) looks
as if it its outline is a straight line across the bottom, between the
clock's feet, so that the feet don't seem separate.

Cheers,

Re: [kde-artists] [Bug 164118] 22px kalarm.png needs redrawing

Hi David, Artist:

I think you'r referring to the bottom shadow, if we attenuate or eliminate
it
the clock will appear to be floating just like in the smallest versions and
we
lose the effect of been "put it over".

Regards

Daniel.

With some background colours, the legs appear separate and the bottom
shadow looks like a shadow. With other backgrounds, the legs don't appear
distinct from the bottom shadow, and the legs and shadow appear to merge
into a single shape which appears to form a straight line along the bottom
of the icon.

Cheers,
David.

Re: [kde-artists] [Bug 164118] 22px kalarm.png needs redrawing

Hi David:

I don't know why that's happening, I have done some test with differents
backgrounds and get it a similar distorsion in white and grays backgrounds.
I'm just using a black solid-to-transparence to get this bottom shadow
effect. The shadow is a dark (black) trasparent object, and we must get
identical response, but maybe in this 32x32 version we must eliminate the
feets shadow and use only the general clock shadow.
I'm sending this test with two versions, the left clock have only the
general shadow and the other have no either (see attachmet), but in my
particular opinion, I'll still preferring the clock with the both bottom
shadows.

Any ones have another idea about this?

Regards,
Daniel

Hi Lee O. David, Artist:

I think you must try with this SVG version (see attachment) is a bit less
shiny, so when we resize them we obtain better border results at different
background colors.
And, why can't you render the reflections, troubles with my SVG?

Regards,

Daniel.

Can you supply PNG versions at the different sizes? I preferred your
(Daniel's) right-hand icon, and Lee's files are promising, although I did
notice that the reflection had disappeared.

Cheers,
David.

Re: [kde-artists] [Bug 164118] 22px kalarm.png needs redrawing

Hi David:

Well, I'm sending (see attachments) this version at different sizes as you
wish, from 32x32 to 128x128 without shadows, looks more clear now and that
likes me, but looks like floating to me, with the current lighting (top
left) the clock must project shadows in the floor. If we use this "floating"
icon, and we wants to add a background shadow, then we must change the
lighting too. :(
Maybe in the smallest versions we can eliminate this effect but in the
biggers ones we must keep it, that's just my opinion.
By the way, the versions at 16x16 and 22x22 are in a frontal perspective and
looks good to me, needs to be modificated from his latest version?

Regards

Daniel.

Re: [kde-artists] [Bug 164118] 22px kalarm.png needs redrawing

Daniel,

I agree that keeping the shadows for the larger versions is a good idea (32x32 to 128x128). For 22x22 and 16x16, the icon needs to be optimized for visibility, so in my opinion, the shadow isn't needed, as it's hard to see at that size anyway.

Hi David, Artist:

Sorry, I'll be without mail from Friday 5 to Monday 8, but anyway I'll be
working on :)
I'd done this version just playing with The GIMP, it's gold, did you like
it?

Regards,
Daniel.
