One thing for sure - here is *really* quiet :)

KDE needs always help, like yours! On the artwork front there is alot to do -
feel free to browse around, and poke on anything you find interesting:

At the KDE site there resides some great documents concerning designing icons,
and most of all - the usability aspect of it. Perhaps you will find it
interesting and useful:

In my bookmarks, I also have this:
http://www.useit.com/papers/sun/icons.html

And perhaps this, although It's perhaps not that much about icons:
http://www.id-book.com/

After a concert is out of my way and I have compiled HEAD I plan to write an
article summarizing the entries at BKO, making it slightly easier to grasp

they look more similar because they are closer together, i suppose. removing
the Reply All button is still a good idea IMHO as it does decrease the number
of buttons over all, and it isn't like it looks all the different from the
other three anyways.

things that might help: putting a bit more space between the three buttons;
changing the colour of the arrows on the buttons to give a colour clue (not
so good for some types of colour blindness, of course); making the arrows
more prominant ... this is really something for the artists i suppose...

the Check Mail button is incorrect. it should have a "Check in all" entry. if
the menu opens up, you have no way to select the action of the button; and if
it isn't in the menu it may not be apparent that this option is actually
available if the user looks to the menu for guidance. Konqi's buttons get it
right...

thanks for working patiently on this one... i know there's been a lot of

Re: Hello

Yes, traffic is low at the moment, but there are people here. If you like to
make icons, at the moment kde is moving to svg icons. Take a look at
www.kde-look.org and at the ftp site.

A question for the experts....

Hy,

hoping someone still is active on this page I have this question:
I'd like to change the blue 16x16 info icon to yellow. Can this be done easily
by telling gimp to just change all blue to yellow including all shades?

Cheers,
Sebastian

Yes. Try everything in Tools --> Color Tools to get at what you're looking
for. I'd probably go for the Hue-Saturation tool, but there may be more
appropriate ones for your case.

icon request

Hello KDE artists...
I'm in need of an icon, I want something simple, crystal-like if posible, for
an application I'm planning to release very soon, it is Score Reading
Training (http://www.nongnu.org/srt), I'd like it to be svg. It is about
music, it is about education, it is about training in the reading of musical
scores.
Thanks.

I don't want to sound pessimistic but it seems unlikely your request will be
pleased. KDE is in big need for icons and currently see no obvious solution
to find a bunch of artists to fix that :(

Also bare in mind, in order to be complaint with KDE's icon guide you must
ship unthemed(hicolor) icons and then any optional themed icons, such as
crystalsvg(which is default for KDE. so you could treat that guide lightly..
Someone will punish me for saying that).

Perhaps you could borrow(with permission of the authors) an icon from brahms
or Rosengarden?

Your apps is very interesting, though.

Good luck,
Frans

You might want to ask Ken, Everaldo or Frank directly though :-) Maybe they
just have something that fits by cooincidence.

While this hicolor-thing was true for KDE3.0 it isn't true for 3.1 anymore.
Default is CrystalSVG now, so you only have to provide Crystalicons.

... or noteedit. BTW: I think your application would make a really nice
addition to the KDE-Education ("kde-edu") package.

Art for Knoppix CD

Next week, I hope to start working on a Knoppix KDE 3.2 CD Linux World (Janary
21st, 2004).

I'd appreciate any suggestions for the CD art. And if someone has any
interest in actually creating something, please let me know. Basically, I
want something to print onto the CD. It may have to be black and white--I'm
not sure of the budget.

Regards,

Mark
