KDE shirts

[---- snip --from mailinglist kde-artists]

Hi,
I think we should add a section to kde-look.org for KDE T-Shirt, logos,
stickers and other stuff (i.e. not related to KDE look&feel but still
graphics about KDE).
A "T-Shirt contest" would also be very nice... our Konqi t-shirt are quit old
and something modern would be very nice...

[---- snip --from mailinglist kde-artists]

Andrea,

I'm in no way a artist but I just want to share some experience with printing
shirts ...

The dutch KDE-team made some new KDE-shirts for use during events. You can see
a picture of it here !! (beware: heavy download)

http://www.xs4all.nl/~leintje/kde-nl/linux2002/linux <at> work2002_7.html

We used the artwork of Everaldo for this and he provided us with a very large
Corel Graphics file (don't know the extension)
We were not really happy with those shirts, because of the nature of the
picture it is very expensive to print shirts in full-color. Especially when
you are a small Linux user group this is surely undoable ...

So when I read your request at the mailinglist kde-artists I want to let you
know that there is a need for good 3 or 4 colour graphics whcih can be used
on T-shirts. Some time ago .. I had a small e-mail conversatio n with Tackat

[Karbon 14] SVG import and Crystal

Hi,

I made progress with svg importing in karbon to the point where I think
it works with all crystal svgs now. I tried some of the harder ones :

http://www.xs4all.nl/~rwlbuis/karbon/pics/crystal.png
http://www.xs4all.nl/~rwlbuis/karbon/pics/folders.png
http://www.xs4all.nl/~rwlbuis/karbon/pics/joystick.png

(Note : these are big screnshots)

Please report crystal svg icons that still fail to render well
in karbon14 to me.
I am still working on supporting BlueSphere icons, which use
slightly different svg functionality.
Cheers,

Rob.

Interest for some blueprints?

Hi,

Recently I finished a hefty flash presentation for school (24,5 megs grand
total), and I've got a thread-model made in Illustrator of the KDE Gear.

Would there be an interest for the community, if I would submit this in the
various formats Illustrator can make? SVG for example?

I guess so, because I have been searching real hard for a helper or blueprint
of the gear. Except for the slightly unusable lineart model, I could not find
anything.

I believe that a standard is necessary, in order to enable all artists to make
the things uniform in proportions.

Please bear with me. I'm just trying, so if I have just said something
stunningly stupid, please be gentle on me. ;)

Otherwise - please tell me where to start?

cheers,

Bauke

Thanks.

Re: [Karbon 14] SVG import and Crystal

Perhaps an unrelated questions, but are the crystal
svg icons available anywhere that I can download?
(ftp/http/cvs server)?
I have seen various postings saying that they are
in KDE cvs, but I haven't managed to find them :-)

George

| This is also the problem with all other KMail specific icons. The 16x16
| icons are still the old ones. This means, the icons in the toolbar look
| _completely_ different to the icons for the same actions in the menu.

What about these variants for mail icons:

http://freetype.newmail.ru/svg/160x160/mail_generic.png
http://freetype.newmail.ru/svg/160x160/mail_new.png

I will do Reply, Cjeck Mail, Reply All icons tomorrow.

Yes, I am ready to help you.
Which icons need to be updated, and what you would like to have?

|
| Thanks.

If files are big - put them on web (either ftp or http), better bzipped
(.tar.bz2)
Some small thumbnails/screenhots would be nice, too.

Could please also take a look at KNode, it has the same icon problems
as Kmail (most message related menu icons are wrong, and the "followup
to newsgroup" icon should be adapted to the new icon style).

Greetings
