Apple Menu Bar

Hello all,

Has anyone tried to get the apple menu bar to work with Thinlet?
Apple uses a differnt style, the menu is at the top of the Desktop, not the top of the
application.

Thanks in advance,

Paul Johnson

Thinlet / J2EE intergation

Hi,

I've intergated Thinler with thin J2EE clinet implementation
(http://www.jproxy.com). I created a sample JMS (pub/sub) based
chat. The whole client runtime is under 150 KB.

The JMS implementation is JbossMQ, but can be any other App Server.
JProxy delivers all of J2EE stack on to the client side with around
120 Kb runtime.

So basically marying JProxy and Thinlet produces thin enterprise
ready clients.
Please let me know if you would like to see it in action. It is
really ugly at the moment, but I'm willing to send a private link to
whoever would like to see it work. Please email me or ICQ and will
send you the link. I would love to hear your feedback on this

You can contact me via email or ICQ: 166-662-653

Re: J9 problems?

Thank you for answering. It is more or less clear, at least clear
enough to see that it works perfectly now thanks.

However I have a doubt: how affects this changes to Thinlet's
licence? Is it possible to distribute the final product for
commercial purposes having managed Thinlet.java? do you have
the "legal authority" to make changes and the resulting source still
be considered inside Thinlet's Licence?

I could not see the modifications you tell me at cvs repository
(http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/thinlet/thinlet/src/java/thinle
t/Thinlet.java?rev=1.13&view=log) is it because the are exclusive
changes for J9/PoketPC?

regards.

Scrollable panel inside dialog

Hi,

A little question: scrollable panels doesn't work inside dialogs? I've
tested this:

<dialog name="about" modal="true">
	<tabbedpane name="tabbed">
		<tab text="..." mnemonic="0">
			<panel scrollable="true">
				(...)
			</panel>
		</tab>
	</tabbedpane>
</dialog>

and it didn't works... instead, the following becomes scrollable:

	<tabbedpane name="tabbed">
		<tab text="..." mnemonic="0">
			<panel scrollable="true">
				(...)
			</panel>
		</tab>
	</tabbedpane>

Any comments?
Thanks,

Fabiano Franz

Problem with FrameLauncher on VGA screen PDAs

I'm porting an application made for standard 1/4 VGA screen
(240x320pix) to a new Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX 720 which has a
480x640pix screen.

The spec for the Pocket LOOX is much better than for the PDA with
standard screen -- but still the GUI is slower....!

It setting width/height in FrameLauncher to 480x640pix, but it
doesn't work properly..! It works as I expected on my PC, but these
settings don't impact how things act on the PDA.

The GUI is of this cause slower on this "killer PDA" than on a
standard Symbol ppt8860. The OS on my Pocket LOOX performes a zoom-
operation to fill the 480x640 screen with a 240x320picture... even
if I've corrected the FrameLauncher settings.

Does anyone of you have some input on this issue???

Thanks!

Re: Thinlet and jdk1.1.8

OK, I've done a bit more investigation.
Standard thinlet compiled with

java version "1.4.2_03"

and -target 1.1 produces a class file that is essentially
unusable with jdk1.1.8 under windows 2000.

I get a constant stream of IllegalMonitorStateException's
and holding down a spin button causes a fatal JIT error
and vm crash.

So I followed gammelgedden's advice and added the public
constructor as shown below. The code now compiles with
jdk1.1.8 and runs perfectly with the same vm under windows.

Could we get this change incorporated into the main
distribution? It would be really nice to be able compile it
out of the box with jdk1.1.8.

Re: Re: Thinlet and jdk1.1.8

Maybe I missed a message, but have you tried compiling it with the java 1.1.8 compiler? Please let me know
what happens.

Re: Thinlet and jdk1.1.8

Hi Michael,

if I compile the standard thinlet with Sun jdk1.1.8 I get
the errors shown below. Gammelgedden observes the same
and I've seen Robert Bajzat comment on the same point
in another message. Compiling with java 1.4.2 gives a
class file that works erratically with the java interpreter
of jdk1.1.8 (exceptions and vm crash).

As the fix is seemingly benign (adding public Thinlet()
in front of the instance initialiser on line 88)
it would be nice to have it in the standard distribution.

This helps maintain the portability of thinlet and would
certainly make my life easier :-)

Regards,

Mike
