server starting problem

plz do help me out for the following problem:
while trying out the ozone samples:
1.while starting the server:
Open a new console. Change directory to <OZONE_HOME>/samples/simple.
Install a new database via 'ozoneInst -d<db_dir>'. Start the server via
'ozone -d<db_dir> -u<username>'.

the following steps r executed:
A directory named "doit" is created in the sample\simple to install the database in it.....
the following paths ve been set:

E:\>set JAVA_HOME=E:\jdk1.4
E:\>set OZONE_HOME=.;E:\ozone-1.2
E:\>set OZONE_PATH=.;E:\ozone-1.2\bin
E:\>set OZONE_JVM=java
E:\>set OZONE_JAVAC=javac

E:\ozone-1.2\samples\simple>E:\ozone-1.2\bin\ozoneInst -dE:\ozone-1.2\samples\simple\doit

the follwing error message is displayed:
'ojvm.bat' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

plzzzz do help me out urgentlyyyyy!!!!!!!!!

seems kinda ojvm.bat is not in your PATH, although i thought that
E:\>set OZONE_PATH=.;E:\ozone-1.2\bin
would put it in your PATH...

double check how 're you setting the PATH system variable.

that's my only guess.... :(

Performance tuning of ozone db

Hi !

How can I do some performance tuning of the ozone db.
I didn't some performance test with an object I wrote (class Person which has one string and on int).
My results:
insert 1000 persons: 33000 ms
update 1000 persons:12139 ms
show 1000 persons:253 ms
remove 1000 persons:15271 ms

Hopefully you can help me.

I guess it all, depends on how you do it, 33ms for each insert is not very bad if you consider that each insert means a send/process/return over the network.

If you look at the documentation there are information about what options you can change and what effect they will have.

Hi Mikael !

There is not much data to be transfered because the Person object is very small and I tried it on local host. I allready tried to change some settings but they didn't effect it in any way.

help needed on ozone

i have a project where i intented to use ozone as my database but ....somehow kept on facing problems on installation......

it gives an erroe of some file build.xml......don know...looked for dat file but din found.....

if u cud simplify the process and explain the correct installation procedure....and which version to downloa beta or binary....etc......in windows....

also i jus want to show some sample running code which gives my panel an idea abt wat ozone is ....anything dat can be well demonstrated ..please help......wat can i do ????

if u cud please help on that also......

download from cvs, there you got source code, samples and an upgraded
version of ozone..., i believe that the one available from the web
lacks some features that are stable in CVS.

Please look in the mailing list history, there you ll find how to
perform a CVS checkout of the corresponding version i don't remember
that right now!.

please be more accurate describing your problem.., which part of the
installation is that you re puzzled?!? where you trying to run the
samples?! (and maybe thats the build.xml thing you re seeing).

Documentation in the web is quite easy to understand, try to follow
those steps.., at least to run an example

please ask again if you get puzzled again..., i 'm sorry i didn't
answer something concrete, it's just that i didn't get the question
quite right.

i ve created an obect with 2 fields username and password.these values are entered by the user .kindly tell the procedure to retrieve this object from the databse later.....reply URGENTLYYYYYYYYY....

something like an Index?

Hello,

I'm new to ozone and also rather new to databases in general.
For my current project some kind of OODBMS seems to be a good choice.
However, beside some rather complex structures, I've got also long lists
of Objects of the same class.
Concretely: I have got a list of persons with names, addresses, ids and so on.
I need to find somebody in this list either by name or by id. Both options must work fast.
So in a RDBMS like e. g. MySQL I would probably create an index for names and one for ids.
Well, this is no RDBMS.

How can I implement this in Ozone?
