Folks,
I recently installed 24 updates to NB6.5, by clicking the
updates globe icon in the bottom right corner of the IDE.
Installs apparently installed ok, but when the IDE
restarted, I got errors followed by x module disabled along with nn others
(apologies didn’t take any further notes).
I then attempted to manually activate those plugins,
without success, then uninstall from Add/Remove programs and reinstall plugins,
but again when IDE restarted got the same errors.
I have resorted back to a reinstall of initial NB 6.5
distribution released in December (incidently uninstall did not remove the install
directory and its subdirectories, so removed manually).
I had a similar experience several months ago.
My IDE is now working again but it has left me paranoid
about installing future updates. Has anybody else experienced similar woes? Are
there any issues logged? Is there some systemic problem at Sun re QA of
updates?
The only other factor that may have contributed was that
for boot performance of the IDE I had deactivated/uninstalled some plugins that
I wasn’t using (e.g. Ruby etc). Could this have confused the update installer?
Regards
Nick
