Last call for votes -- please either cast your vote now on the voting
thread, or let me know you want more time.

Sorry to see it go but with the history and lack of sponsorship (commercial or otherwise), the project has
probably drawn to a close.

Re: [Vote] Move Apache Harmony to the Attic

Hello,

I'm intruding again, before moving it to the attic and while the PMC is still alive.
maybe you could consider moving the project under public domain for the benefit of other vm, student and
university works ? and android by the way (even if I'm not fan of it).

Mail from last year :
http://harmony.markmail.org/message/bzifm5jshpviyyzz?q=public+domain

This will allow other project with bsd-like, mit, ...etc... licenses to reuse parts of harmony more
easely. Don't let all this work go to waste.

See it as a gift to the community :) .

Re: [Vote] Move Apache Harmony to the Attic

Personally, I think the Apache License is as close to public domain
you can come, since PD is not universally defined across
jurisdictions.
The "no right to trademarks" and "give us some credit" obligations
will not stop anybody from using it.

Cheers
Niclas

Re: [Vote] Move Apache Harmony to the Attic

Everyone preach for it's own license preference, it's not the place to debate on this subject.
I personally had a bad experience with opensolaris when oracle changed the license and 'stole' free
developers work (I see it this way).

more than the license the ©Copyright is like a Sword of Damocles waiting in the dark. I trust the apache
foundation but still we don't know what the futur will be. Until a projet is under public domain I don't
consider it truly Free.

If you think the apache license is so close to public domain then it should not be a problem ?

The decision is not mine, and probably some contributor to harmony like IBM will have a word on this, or is it
the PMC decision only ?
