Re: Anthill 1.8.0.264 java.lang.InstantiationException:org.apache.tools.ant.Main

Hi all,

I've switched from Bea to Tomcat and everything is working fine.
But I'm wondering how the schedule mechanism is working,
I've scheduled two products and Anthill is doing nothing, nor
a cvs log command to check what files have changed.

Any idea?

Finally someone with the same problem I had!!!!
That is because Weblogic ships ant 1.5.1 inside weblogic.jar and that seems to cause some classloading problems.  I did spent sometime trying to solve it but in the end I moved to Tomcat.  Maybe someone else can give us more clues!

InstantiationException

When I build via anthill, I get this InstantiationException. It seems like an ant problem--like it cannot even run ant. If I cut-n-paste the command from the logs and run it on the cmd line it runs fine. Any ideas?

Also, I still get a Successful message even though ant puked. That doesn't seem right.

TIA!

Re: InstantiationException

Hi Kevin,

this is the same problem i had with BEA Weblogic, because bea weblogic already installed an old Ant version with its libraries.
I solved this, as i  moved to tomcat 5.5.9, and everything was working fine.

RE: InstantiationException

I have Anthill 1.8.0.264 on

HP-UX MAASYM B.11.11 U 9000/800 3295789053 unlimited-user license with Weblogic 8.1 SP4

and it works fine. So I'd say there's a different problem.

Subject: [Anthill] InstantiationException

When I build via anthill, I get this InstantiationException. It seems like an ant problem--like it cannot even run ant. If I cut-n-paste the command from the logs and run it on the cmd line it runs fine. Any ideas?

Also, I still get a Successful message even though ant puked. That doesn't seem right.

TIA!

Re: InstantiationException

Kevin,

Make sure that you're logged in as the same user that is running
WebLogic (and therefore Anthill) when you cut and paste the command to
run it from the command line. Let me know how that works.

Anthill build not executing build.xml

Hi All,
     Recently I installed the Anthill OS Server on a different machine. This
version used to work fine with the same build scripts in the previous
machine(Windows XP). Since the change to the new machine(Windows 2003 Server
- Standard Edition), the builds have stopped working. I keep getting this
error:

     Anthill version 1.8.0.264

     Retrieving project files: OK
     Incrementing version: OK
     FAILED to run build script. Message: Failed to Build project. Error: 1
Project Site:

If I run the build.xml from the command line, it builds all the targets
fine. I am not sure what is going on. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Sushmita

CVS Error connecting to host X: No such host is known

I have been looking at this for days now…. And I thought I would try the experts:

All on same machine:

1. Anthill version 1.8.0.264
2. Running on Java 1.4.2_08

3. tomcat 5.0.28

4. CVSNT 2.5.02

When the same build.xml is run twice this is what happens:

Tomcat -> anthill -> build.xml  -> cvs ant task

                        <cvs cvsRoot=":pserver:buildmaster <at> x:/cvsrepo” reallyquiet="false">

                          <commandline>

                            <argument line=" status " />

                          </commandline>

                        </cvs>

Returns: [cvs] Error connecting to host X: No such host is known.

Command line Ant -> build.xml -> cvs ant task

                        <cvs cvsRoot=":pserver:buildmaster <at> x:/cvsrepo” reallyquiet="false">

                          <commandline>

                            <argument line=" status " />

                          </commandline>

                        </cvs>

Returns: correct status!!!!

The tomcat is running as a DOMAIN\user that has admin rights on the X machine

Cvsnt is running as the same DOMAIN\user

I am at wits end… Does anybody have any idea where to even start looking?

Anthill - ant exec task error

Hi All,
    I am trying to run builds and am seeing strange issues for some ant
targets(these run fine when these are run from the command prompt using the
same build.xml):

1. Trying to build a VC++ solution using devenv.exe, I see the following
error come up:
     [exec] Project 'C:\anthill18\work\test project\CollSvc\CollSvc.vcproj'
failed to open.

    ......

   This happens for all the projects in the solution.

2. Javadoc task does not get executed from anthill and I get the following
error:

    C:\anthill18\work\test project\CommonJava\build.xml:388: Javadoc failed:
java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: javadoc.exe -d "C:\anthill18\work\test
project\CommonJava\builtproduct\doc" -use -windowtitle "Common API Java
Docs"

    Anthill 1.8.0.64 is running on Tomcat that runs as a Windows Service for
a particular user. This is running on Windows 2003 Standard edition server.

   The same environment works fine for me when run under Windows XP.

   Has anyone seen these errors before ?

   Any pointers on what could be causing these errors will be very helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Sushmita

Re: Anthill - ant exec task error

Sushmita,

The most likely problem is the environment in both cases. I'm not sure
what the executable is in the first case, but it would appear that the
user running tomcat is somehow unable to perform the operation.

In the second problem, it would appear that javadoc is not in the path.

Rather than running Tomcat as a service, start it from the command line
and try these build then.
